I just got my dell 2005fpw had it for 2 weeks, and was wondering what does the options in the ati ctrl panel do for the 2 selections listed: ATI alternate DVI mode and the other reduce dvi frequency. I had a CRT B4, so I always set this to off. Should I leave the boxes checked? Or just leave them off?

Those boxes should be checked only if you are having problems with your flat panel. "Reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays" apparently slows down the TMDS frequency. This reduces the data rate in an attempt to solve problems at high screen resolutions or with overly long cables or weak TMDS transmitters. I've never seen an explanation (including from ATI) about exactly what "Alternative DVI operational mode" really is. You're just supposed to try checking it if you are having problems. But you should just leave them unchecked if your panel works correctly that way. They may be checked by default in order to minimize compatibility problems when people upgrade to a new flat panel monitor.
 
I have played with those and always thought, "Wow that looks exactly the same as before." As UncleMacro said, don't touch unless there is a problem.
 
thanks UncleMacro they were always on by default when I downloaded new ati drivers, so now they will stay unchecked :)
