Unfortuntely not, I'm locked away in a secret facility performing MAD experiments.
Wouldn't MAD experiments be considered a synthetic benchmark? Didn't think you ran those.

I wonder whats going to be the bigger hit at the party tonight? The quad core barcelona & 2900xt or the hookers & blow?
^^I don't believe he will release any results this early.
Everyone.
Really? And, where did you hear of this, if I may ask? Then we live in fear!
Some sites have already broken the NDAs and as I understand it that sent the fellows at AMD into confused chaos and disbelief..
Uh if I recall correctly the 8800 series completely destroyed the 7xxx series at release. I am pretty sure there was double the performance...so I really do not recall these similar problems at all. 8800 series never got this much negative reputation from previews and reviews. 8800 was an ACE that NVidia had, and I believe on Monday it will show what has already been said and that 8800 series was simply that good.
Now I do remember these same exact events unfolding for the 5xxx series for NVidia, late to the game, previews that showed it worse than the competition and well behind ATi. After that NVidia fought back with the 6xxx series, I really hope ATi can do the same and BELIEVE they will especially since they have merged with AMD.
Really? And, where did you hear of this, if I may ask?
Great to hear the event went well and the 2900 was rock solid. BTW, was the dual quad, Opteron or 4x4?Kudo's to kyle @ hardocp and AMD for putting together a good party. Also the dual quad (barcelona) core box was quite drool worthy (with the 2900) even if the amd guy was very secretive about the specs
.
I just got back from the AMD party at shine. AMD put on a very impressive show of product, gave away a couple xbox's and other goodies. As for the 2900 it seemed rock solid, didnt have a chance to see any numbers out of 3dmark or the like. Didn't see one blue screen, crash or hiccup the entire night which bodes well for the stability of the product. They had an AWESOME physics demonstration with two 2900's in a box. One of them was doing the 3d math while the other one was doing physics simulations. Kudo's to kyle @ hardocp and AMD for putting together a good party. Also the dual quad (barcelona) core box was quite drool worthy (with the 2900) even if the amd guy was very secretive about the specs
. Finally the spring rolls were fantastic. *hiccup*
lol dare I say?
The Inquirer...
I'll find the article
EDIT: Links to websites that broke the NDA: http://theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39145

History repeats itself![]()
In my inquistion of the poor amd engineer (the one manning the dual quad) the few things he did let slip was one of the boxes (possibly that one) were running am2+, that the ones in the dual quad were consumer level cpu's (aka not opterons)
EDIT: Also opteron quads were expected in the middle of 2007 while the consumer level were expected in later 07
According to Tony of XS, IT-review did not sign an NDA.
You are correct,I had a 7900 gtx sli setup and bought a 8800 gtx on launch day. out of the box the 8800 crushed the 7900 sli set up at 1920x1200.
Count down to a piece of shit. Loud and slow.
Right but there was not any negative context around the 8800 series like there currently is around r600. I am not spreading any propaganda, just stating what others who are reputable have stated. Believe me I for one hope everyone is lying or ATi has some special drivers they have held back (would drop prices on 8800gts etc).
All I remember from pre 8800 days was that nobody believed it was going to be unified shader architechture card. Nvidia PR people did pretty nice job in convincing people to believe it was going to be a minor architectural improvement from G70 cards, definetly not a unified shader card, thats what I remember believing. And then BaM out comes G80 withs it sleek new architechture and everybody was blown away by its performance. Too bad it has taken almost 6 months to get acceptable drivers for the card, otherwise I would have one in my sig too.
No reason eh, how about better filtering, better AA, better image quality, the fact that it is one card and uses up less power then your SLi 7900's. Oh and even though it doesn't matter now it's also DX10.What??@!
Is Sainter bias here or was he really seing a difference? I had 2x 7900gt SLI vmodded to a stable 740/950. My research found benchmarks for the 8800gtx and 7900gtx nearly similar and not to mention that my own 3dmark 06 scores were practically the same as and 8800gtx on the same type of system clock per clock except the 8800 clocks. Therefore I found no reason to upgrade to 8800gtx. Am I missing something?
What are the clock speeds between the Sapphire and the HIS?
I always run 3DMark on each video card, shhhhhh![]()

And the fact that you used 3dmark scores to come to your conclusion just makes you look like an idiot.
Also ever hear of selling your old video cards? Right, didn't think so.
Banko,
Why did you respond so rudely? I never attacked anyone in this forum with my wording, even Saintster. Keep your sharp comments to yourself next time. Don't make your own quick assumptions next time. All the stuff you mentioned I already considered, my fault for not putting "price/performance reason " in there. Your comment makes me mad.
it is stating a fact .... It also confirms all of the "rumors" and the results that were on the leaked review that was later taken down.
you appeared to compare the cards based on clock speeds and 3D mark scores without any thought given to the improved IQ of the 8800 over your 7900.
