Catalyst 5.10 - Issues Resolved in this Release:
ATI drivers are already optimized for your product from the initial installation. Installing a new driver is only recommended if you are experiencing issues with your ATI product, including those mentioned below:
- Prince of Persia: Sands of Time: Attempting to launch the game under Windows with an ATI Radeon X800 XL installed no longer results in an error message being displayed
- The German language control panel text no longer appears truncated when using 96 DPI
3Smark03: Setting the display resolution to 1024x768 32bbp and having Anti-Aliasing set to 6x no longer results in Windows crashing when running 3Dmark03 Mother Nature test
- Overlay Theater Mode no longer fails to be applied on the secondary display device when using extended desktop mode
- Catalyst Control Center: Entering the Adjustments page and deselecting the option to Let the Application Decide no longer results in the Hue value not changing when moving the slider bar
- Connecting two display devices to the ATI Radeon X300/X600 no longer results in the Overlay Theater Mode failing to be applied to the primary display device
- Attempting to toggle between the CRT and TV using ALT+F5 shortcut no longer fails
- The red/blue components are no longer intermittently swapped when rendering images with OpenGL based Java 2D pipeline
- Silent Hunter 3: Enabling all video options within the game and setting the particle density to 100, along with setting Anti-Aliasing to 6X and Anisotropic Filtering to 16x, no longer results in display corruption on the left portion of the display
- Pacific Fighters: Setting the display device to 1024x768 32bpp and enabling Anti-Aliasing to 6x no longer results in display corruption being noticed within the game
- IBM DFP BN68-30012B-06: Connecting the display device to an ATI Radeon X300/X600 no longer results in display corruption being noticed after the installation of the ATI display driver
- The ATI Radeon X850 Pro is now properly identified in the Display Properties
- Dungeon Siege 2: The cursor image is now displayed properly when playing the game under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon X800 series installed
- Stronghold 2: Attempting to launch the game under Windows XP Professional x64 edition no longer results in the game failing to load and the operating system rebooting itself
- Attempting to enabling clone mode under Windows XP MCE while watching TV in a windowed mode no longer results in the operating system crashing
- Using a PAL version of the Microsoft operating system (XP, or XP MCE) no longer results in the region being switched from PAL to NTSC when clicking the video list found in the tuner tab of the TV function of the ATI MMC
- Max Payne 2: Erratic mouse pointer behavior is no longer noticed within the game's menu after a short time period of game play
- The FM seek function found in the ATI MMC no longer operates the same as the tune function when using an ATI All-in-Wonder X800 (PAL) under the Windows XP MCE operating system
- Graphedit: Watching and listening to audio/video using the composite input found on the ATI Radeon X300/X600 no longer results in the left and right audio being swapped

Brent_Justice said:Just the long list of fixes in general. That page is new, I haven't seen it before when downloading the drivers, apparently they now show you what has been fixed before you download it, neat.
Wonder how many of those fixes are to Catalyst AI behavior....Brent_Justice said:More Info: When downloading the driver I saw this:

Brent_Justice said:More Information - I just tried installing Catalyst 5.10 on the X1800 XL error message received was "INF error Video driver not found."
It appears these drivers do not support the X1000 family yet. Bummer
Yeah, I was just wondering. I mean, the SHIII notes particularly....that's kinda an INSANE amount of tweaking you need to do with that game to duplicate that "bug". Involves tinkering with the advanced in-game settings, ATI control panel settings, and game .ini file values.tornadotsunamilife said:You can always turn it off
dderidex said:And to STILL have such hideous OpenGL performance (their OpenGL driver rebuild from the ground up not scheduled to complete until late '06!).
Last "heard it from a friend of a daughter of the janitor that works in the building next to ATI's HQ and eats lunch with their garbage guy" rumor is that project Orca (their OpenGL driver rebuild) isn't scheduled to be complete until H1'06.tornadotsunamilife said:I think we may see this in a couple of drivers (maybe saving it for 6.1's?)
nunyabiz said:Thats the same error I have with every driver I have tried, except for the ones on the cd. I guess either they will release a seperate for the x1800 or we will have to wait until the cat 5.11 or maybe even the 6.x series?
OldBoy said:That's utterly asinine. They release a card and don't support it in their driver release?!? wtf is going on with ATI's driver team?![]()

jgdiaz said:I got tired of trying all these new ATI driver releases and took my X850XT out and put it to pasture, re-instaled my 6800 Ultra which on my system performs much faster than the X850XT which sucks big time!!!!!!![]()

OldBoy said:You're tired of regularly updated driversSuuuuure. What games are you playing, Doom III, SS II yeah the Ultra would be faster, everything DX, probably not. If anything you have a system configuration issue if the Ultra is faster in games across the board.

jgdiaz said:Hey!!!!, I play HL2, FarCry, Call of Duty etc. etc. I have not seen any improvements at all since the 5.8 catalist drivers.
I believe the drivers used for the X1K series is the 8.18 Betas, and are different to the official drivers because of the new architecture, i.e. implementing the whole "complete drivers in one" thing was difficult to do.nunyabiz said:Thats the same error I have with every driver I have tried, except for the ones on the cd. OldBoy said:Well, maybe I'm offbase but there are more than three games out there the coders have to worry about. Bug fixing on a regular basis is a hell of a lot more than the nvidia driver team does, the amount of time between WHQL drivers is ridiculous. Updating drivers isn't solely about performance, particularly when performance has been maxed for a particular architecture. There are no performance improvements recently in the 6800 Ultra's drivers either but I don't see you making a big deal out of that.
I'm just not quite sure how anyone unhappy with the performance of a X850 XT can claim that they're getting "improved" performace in HL2, FarCry, and Call of Duty on a 6800 Ultra. If you're really looking for improved performance you need to step up in class to the X1800 XL/XT or 7800 GT/X
