just got a 22-inch gateway lcd.

tried to play some BF2 last night, which does not have official widescreen support.

my problem is that I couldn't get the image to scale so that it would fill the screen top to bottom with black bars on the side. I could only stretch it to fill the entire screen, or use the monitors own 1:1 scaling to have a non-stretched image, but it would only fill as many pixels as the current set resolution, meaning I couldn't scale it to fille top to bottom.

system specs in sig*

if your monitor doesn't support Fixed Aspect ratio then you are out of luck, ATI doesn't provide this on their end..

i don't know about your monitor specficially, but look in its menues for Fixed aspect, Fill, 1:1

I ran into that same problem when I got my widescreen monitor. You CAN use registry hacks in BF2 to get it back to playable form in widescreen, with the top and bottom chopped off.

Search a BF2 forum. You can amend the executible arguments and force the native resolution...

example:

BF2.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Most games allow for these modifications in some form. Search for them.

1. non-true widescreen support found at link above, email EA and tell them what f'ing idiots they are for not putting it into BF games

2. email ATI and tell them how lame they are for not included ratio aspect scaling in their catalyst drivers

dood, totally.

also, widescreen isn't what i'm going for here everybody, I just want the 4:3 resolutions to scale properly. its not just BF2, desktop resolutions, other games, no 4:3 resolutions scale to fill top to bottom.
