ASUS RMA Hell

Who is Raja? Does he work for Asus?

Yes, and he has a few threads here and on other forums supporting users with technical issues. And he sometimes help or chimes in on issues like this.

Yeah he is an ASUS rep, he pops into threads when people say good things about ASUS and vanishes when people need help.

I think the extent of his powers are he sees a thread like this, tells his supervisors, then they decide if its enough of a public spectacle to actually do the right thing and take care of this INDIVIDUAL customer while still offering crappy service to everyone else. At this point I am ASUS free in my main rig. My older ones have a few residual parts, but there will be no new ASUS parts in anything I build until there is a change in how the company handles their "warranties".

And its really a shame because they make some really cool hardware, and have some things like the Q-connector which makes builds very easy. But I do not have enough money to just buy a new component when one breaks because I know its more money and effort to have to go through an RMA that will most likely send me back something even worse. ASUS is a company with great products run by unscrupulous assholes.

I honestly doubt they will do any thing here, but thanks for the info.

Yeah I figured for the Asus premium price you would get better tech. support. Hopefully I won't have to RMA any else in the future, it should be factored in any hardware decisions.

I also think the q-connector is standard format for the pin layout, so I will hang on to that part when I upgrade.

At this point in time, I have decided that ASUS products are essentially throw away if anything goes wrong.

You either get the "customer induced damage" bullshit, or something like you have pictured in the first page. ASUS RMA just isn't worth the headaches and time.

It's too bad. I like ASUS motherboards, in fact I use them almost exclusively, fortunately I have always received one that worked well from the jump.
I would not buy a GPU from them.

Awesome! I was just getting ready to build a new system with a ASUS MAXIMUS VI GENE LGA 1150. I might have to rethink my mobo choices.

Sorry for your troubles OP but thanks for the heads up.

I have the Maximus VI Formula.
I find it to be a really nice board.
Good overclocker and has been very stable.
Unfortunately, arrived to me with a DOA SP/DIF port, I just bought a sound card, rather than trying to return the board.

If you get the Gene, I would just recommend not using any of the ASUS software, it's generally not so good.
If the board works well out of the box, it will serve you well.:D

Never had a problem with them, but I do register my products regardless if I bought or not. I build computers and strickly buy Asus, the only time I don't is when a specific customer requests a different motherboard. I am always nice even when I am a little pissed. They don't have the same mentality as we do, here customer is always right. To them your right until you are rude, yelling, demanding or any other rude behaviour. You won't get anything done.

I had similar issues getting a 6970 RMAe'd through ASUS.

I fought with them for 3+ months before giving up and purchasing a different card. The issue? My card would not work in Dual link mode on multiple monitors. I must have sent the card back 5 or 6 times only to get the same card back (at least in the same condition i sent it in) and it was infuriating as they weren't addressing the problem.

Eventually I got a xfx card to replace, and after that i FINALLY got another replacement from ASUS. The new card? Same exact problem as the other one.

So should I delete this thread or keep it up? because they asked me to take it down.

I have never had any bad exp with the Asus RMA process. Of course, I have dealt mainly with motherboards...but usually I have my board in a few days. Sorry about your bad exp.

I'm not surprised Asus had the audacity to ask you to delete your thread... But I sure as hell wouldn't. Good or bad a company should stand by what they've done.

That is some audacity.

I would not take it down. Eventually bad press/practices may make them change. Plus it's necessary if people who actually use the search function to determine if Asus is worth their hard earned money. More points on the graph and all.....................

So they haven't made right on the shitty card they gave you and now want you to get rid if this thread? Wow. Tell them to fuck themselves. This is total bullshit. I may also rethink any further ASUS purchases if this is how they randomly treat people.

Edit - I see now you edited your first post. It's good that they made things right for you. But the effort it took to get it done was ridiculous.

I've not RMA'd any ASUS stuff in quite a while, but the last time I did (a mobo), the process was painless. That said, it was a long time ago, and it looks like things have gone seriously downhill since.

In any event, if it were me, there is no way in hell I'd take this thread down. Its factual, documented, and fair. You even had the good grace to update your first post, the one people will see as soon as they hit this thread, to show they did finally do the right thing, which is more than a lot of folks would do (or than ASUS has any right to expect).

The fact that they think, because they eventually (and after much prodding) did what they should have done in the first place, that they can demand you make this all disappear is arrogant as hell. It is, of course, your call, but I'd tell them to stuff it.
