hello i just purchased an asus P5WDG2 WS pro and i have a little problem.
Im using a seagate 7200 rpm sata hard drive and its plugged into the sata 1 controller on the motherboard. When i go into bios under main it shows this:

primary IDE master: DVD-rom
primary IDE slave: not detected

third IDE master : st332062as(my hard drive)
third IDE slave: not detected

how come my hard drive is showing has IDE instead of sata like on my P5B vanilla board?

help a noob out plz=)

That's not a problem. That's just how they "trick" WinXP into not needing a floppy to install every SATA drive. The drivers are in the bios of the board and it is seen as an IDE drive for Windows installation purposes on single drives. Now you only need the floppy for RAID where before you needed it for any SATA drive.
