Asus Ares - adding a 3rd 8 pin

I've been playing with a pair of Asus Ares cards lately and it looks to be very simple to exchange the 6 pin connector for an 8 pin connector, due to how the pcb is setup.

As seen in my pic here:

The slots are there and it's all ready to go, just needs to be done. I've never done anything like this and I'm sure it's mostly for LN2/Dice runs compared to normal every day use but for the sake of having a little bit extra power and having a flush 24pin setup, I'm quite interested in changing it out.

My question, would there be any reason that I should not do this? Has anyone done this or seen it done? I did a few quick Google searches and didn't find much.

Thanks.

There really isn't any reason to do this. The only difference between the 6 and 8 pin connectors is 2 extra ground connectors. Given the loss of warranty, and the fact that this may or may not even work or provide a benefit, I wouldn't bother.
