What other things are essential for Blu-ray playback on a PC?

I figured I'd need some sort of 3rd party software, but what about the hardware aspect? Are some video cards on the market presently, not up to the job?
Most new video cards released within the last 1-2 years will be enough for blu-ray playback. In fact, even certain onboard video is enough for blu-ray though not without some video quality issues. i.e the onboard video of the Sandy Bridge Core i3, i5 , and i7 CPUs are more than enough to watch blu-ray content.
As for the other hardware, you could go as low as AMD's Zacate platform or as high as a Core i5 CPU platform and still get decent blu-ray playback. It's all dependent on what other things you're planning on doing with this HTPC.
