Ashtray for computer?

Bah, If i ever did smoke, i would NEVER smoke next to a computer once you have seen some of the ones i have. Ive seen them so gummed up with tar and crap that even the outside case plastic reeks of smoke and every vent hole has a tar buildup on it
 
It will warp the colors of the case (ive seen people go from white > tan because of all that smoke.

I personally say its a bad idea, as far as saftey and looks.

I have seen one of these up close at Microcenter.

It has a cigarette lighter with a push button retractable pop can holder.

It allows you to charge devices all while it holds your soda can.
 
Yeah, it's a cup holder, like it's been said, suitable for something about the size of a soda can.

Of course, most people I know with a computer, I wouldn't trust them with a soda within 5 feet of a computer, especially that close to somewhere where it could spill into the inside of the case!! :eek:

I charge an extra $20.00 per hour to work on a smokers computer......and I still get 'em to fix :(
 
Cig smoke anywhere near your comp will "wreak" (pun intended) havoc on the case and internals. This is true for anything near where you smoke. PCs intake a good bit of smoke due to the high air flow they commonly have. I am a smoker and I refuse to let myself or anyone for that matter smoke inside my house because everything will eventually smell like old cigarette butts. I'm not your mother and I can't tell you what to do, however, just the idea of using a PC as an ashtray just seems like a really bad idea.

Cause the smell is revolting???? You obviously have never opened a box covered with dust stuck to tar all over the inside.......extremely nasty......and as a former 4 pack a day smoker.....ya'll should know nobody is worse about cig smoke than an ex smoker..... :p

ive had to fix about 2 PCs for smokers at my work place. that really sucked. and the owner of the building i was workin at also smokes, so id come out of there smelling a little bit like smoke every day. not fun stuff. :(

I seen a iMac G4 tunred to the most digusting shade of brown in a smokers house, totally ruined the entire look, went from thing of beauty to Lamp-Shaped ashtray with 15" LCD
 
yeah, I do agree with some of the guys above me ^, smoke does damage your pc.
And I have seen it at a LAN party, a 3 guys were smoking right next to each other. and because of all that smoke, one of their computers' just died from it. Its strange how smoke can ruin a pc.

it is good............friend of mine here in Macon is a fan of it......and I never turn it down :D

and back on topic...just opened up a comp I built for someone 3 months ago.......and the heatsink is already clogged with nasty tar dust and gradoo......thank heavens for carb cleaner
 
Oh heck I'll get one, I don't smoke, I drink a pop near my computer and if I wanted to, I could use 12v car accessories with it.

And you only think that cigarette lighter part is only for smoking. Ha Ha!

I dont know about you guys, but I wouldnt put a soda that close to exposed areas of my computer. Having a soda on your desk is one thing...Having a soda held in place by some cheese dick plastic POS with only a small piece of plastic protecting my case from sugar death would be plain stupid.
 
hahah, I wouldn't mind putting a coke there myself....

but I do remember one instace of having to clean the entire front bezel of one of my comps cause my bro spilt coke on it and never bothered to tell me....

It's designed to be for smoking people.

smoker brought in a compaq for a cleaning, the computers case used to be white but when he brought it in it was yellow, so much smoke/tar/dust buildup it was disgusting. cpu fan was clogged full of crap, so was every other hole on the computer, after cleaning it it was still permantly stained yellow.
 
I bought a 1962 Gibson J45 Acoustic off of a guy for $550.00. He was willing to sell it so cheap because the finish was almost gone, and it smelled like a tabacco field. I figured, hey a J45's a J45 so I handed him the cash. I get the thing home and start really checking it out. Looking closely, I start to wonder, and grab some good strong cleaner. I then proceeded to spend the next 4 weeks pulling layer after layer of smoke residue off of this thing. Long story short, the original finish still looked decent, and I sold it for $1620 on eBay.

Now that's a guitar which simply sits there hanging on a wall. Imagine if it had a giant intake fan on top of it, and lots of heat sensitive parts! That's why you shouldn't smoke around your computer!
