got a XFX 7970 thats been giving me artifacting issues. this is the second card. first one had the same issue and a high pitch squeeling when running 3d games or benchmarks (new futuremark included). new egg replaced the first one without issue and supprisingly fast. but now after 1 day this new one is doing it too although not as badly seems to kick up pretty quickly when in daytime areas of games. Skyrim, Dragonage 2, Crysis 3 , Tomb Raider. i been checking around and noticed a couple of posts recommending upping the voltage, and others stating that the fan profile is too low for this card. stating that the profile is made for the reference version of the card and this one is the Ghz Black Edition Double Dissapation, Superman beat Goku version of the card. Problem is all this sounds good but there hasnt been any response from any of this since as late as march of 2012. anyone got any suggestions on if this is a feasable fix or should i cut my losses and return the card? btw the system is not overclocked,SPEC a AMD 1090T on a MSI 890FXA-GD70 AM3+ AMD Motherboard 16 Gigs of ram on Windows 7 64 bit, Antec 600W power supply

I wonder if your card is Able to be Voltage tweaked, my friends card was artifacting and he was at his wits end, he downloaded Trixx and increased his voltage and all his problems are gone! Been working for 6 months perfectly.

I hope not, my last 3 cards were XFX cards and never had a single issue with em. its my first time getting a fleet card since the old ati radeon 8500 days.( around 2001-03)

never heard of trixx before, but i think theres a way to up the voltage with the overdrive program, and definantly in the AMD Vision Engine control center. always been afraid of messing with voltages though. any particular increments i should shoot for?

The XFX 7970 has some horrible quality control issues. The first one I purchased would throw up a black screens with what look like a plaid shirt texture.

I got a second XFX card now and have new issues. Now I see alot of weird black poloygons with no textures in battlefield. My second monitor jumps around like there is a short in the cable.

I was looking around and some of this might be caused by the 13.1 drivers. I tried the 13.2 beta and it just got worse. I'm seriously thinking about sending this back for an Nvidia card.

Not encouraging.

I get random black screens, random artifacts, etc. Have had the card for 2 weeks.

Nothing can unlock the voltage on these xfx cards. So, stock clocks, and issues....

I bought mine from Amazon, is there another 7970 to try?

well after the second card going crap im opting for a refund, this gonna hurt though they want to charge me $169 for a the game bundle which is only a $120 retail.

Hello Cobalt, we're sorry you are having trouble with this card. Please respond to my PM, or PM me, and we will quickly get this issue resolved. No worries, no need to cut loses. Thanks

My XFX 7970 is going back, Sapphire card here today.

I don't game a lot but do not want to put up with a card that cannot perform on stock clocks. Again, a voltage bump more than likely would fix this issue, but get the shit right from the factory.
