Ok this has been annoying me for a few days now and i have no idea what's causing it.

If i leave my machine folding away whilst not using it core a3 will crash. I get the dreaded FahCore_A3 has stopped responding dialog box. I always manage to save the WU but its driving me nuts as it only happens if the machine is not being used, i also have to reboot as the crash causes graphics corruption on the screen. If i am folding whilst gaming etc it folds fine.

The message always says that the error has occured in ntdll.dll, but i can't find an obvious cause and the log is no use as nothing shows up apart from the completed xxxxxx out of xxxxxx steps messages. Power saving is off, screen savers are off. rig specs are x6 @3.5, Asus M/B, GTX 460, GTX 275/GTS250 combo card, 2 gigs corsair ram and before any one says PSU its running on a brand new corsair HX1000. Is it drivers that need reinstalling or a random hardware glitch???

Any idea's anyone?

I also see core crashes occasionally on my OC'd AMD x6 but I've never seen it anywhere else. It's stable for weeks between crashes though.

Disabled all power management ? If it's only when the computer is otherwise being used, I'd be suspicious of power management messing with it.

First thing I thought as well. Power management and Microsoft automatic updates always get me.

All power management is off and updates are set to notify only, It seems to happen whenit trys to do and autosend of unfinished units. When i get back from work i'm gonna try a bit more cpu voltage.

Push your cpu voltage up just a bit.

Well that didn't work, set it manually to 1.3125 and it was jumping everywhere CPUid even read 1.47v a couple of times but now the machine has locked up completely and will not even boot:mad: looks like i will have to reset the cmos and try something else. I have already tried different ram with no success.

Update:- I've cleared the cmos, and tried different video cards with no success. The longest i have been able to have the machine booted is 1hr, at this point i'm thinking its one of 4 things
1. Windows is borked and needs completely reinstalling.
2. My brand new PSU is not functioning properly.
3. Either CPU or M/B is on its last legs.
4. HDD is on its way out.

Anyone any ideas??

Correction:

1. Windows is borked and needs to be replaced with Linux

Seriously though, are you folding on both the CPU and the GPUs? I assume so given the mixture of cards.

Nice one on the correction but as its supposed to be my gaming rig linux isn't really an option, however for postie's latest delivery it will be, (eventually):D;)

Yeah for about a week or so i managed my 460, 275/250 combo card and the 1090t together - all mildy overclocked - but then i started getting core a3 crashes and now everything is in a heap. At the moment the damn thing won't even boot but as i am in the UK and i have to be at work for 5am it can wait until tomorrow. However if anyone has any idea's, they would be appreciated.
