Does anyone have experience with this thermal paste? I recently bought some gentletyphoons from newegg and each one came with a free tube of this stuff (I've got 5 of them). I found some reviews but they were all a few years old, are there any more recent ones comparing it to other brands?
 
mm i think [H] did a review like 6 months ago maybe with various thermal greases/compounds.. you might have to do a search for it.. but the mx-2 is fine..
 
yep. its good stuff and if I recall correctly it was what is used for cooler and cpu reviews around here as the ease of application and the ability to get fairly consistant applications make it simple to use. For sure worth keeping and using.
 
I've been using this for a few years now, good stuff. Does not need to be reapplied every year like AS5 does.
 
While I'm a huge advocate of IC Diamond 7, MX-2 is still a great compound that gets the job done...and is even better when gotten for free:cool:
 
It's good stuff. Almost as good as AS5. I've had excellent results with it.
 
I been using it exclusively till MX-3 came out. I prefer it over AS5 and even OCZ Freeze. Stuff is just easy to spread and had great results, but I can only speak for myself.
 
MX-2 is great and cheap.

I am constantly removing my heatsinks so cheap is perfect for me :)
Zero temp differences compared to cured AS5 though (in my exp).

AS5 doesn't need to be reapplied every year. Hell it's cure time is supposed to be very long, sometimes one year, depending on how often the computer is used.

MX-2 is good stuff though. Very easy to apply and spread. It does not last in storage as long as other compounds in my experience. After a year the tube was pretty well dried up.
 
I keep a tube of MX-2 as well as MX-3 on hand, and use either one depending on the application. :cool:
 
Yup, MX2 is good stuff. way easier to spread than the old MX1 and saved me 1 or 2C in temps over Zalman STG-1 which is way runnier and has curing time. Have it avail in 30g bottles too for frequent users
 
MX-2 is great. It's my go-to paste for most installs due to ease of use.

That, and it's just barely behind the best TIMs (X23-7783D and Indigo Extreme).

There is an MX-4 coming out right now that is supposedly easier to spread than MX-3. That may be something to watch. Arctic Silver (in concert with Tim Consultants) has released a "Matrix" paste that looks pretty good... I haven't investigated.
 
When I am forced to buy it. I usually get something I know will spread well. AS5 is good but it can be a pain to spread properly. Right now I have some AS5 left and a few unopened tubes of stuff that I got years ago. Some Vantec stuff that I have no idea what it is and something that Thermalright sent with my Si-120.
