Archive.org compromised

I didn't even realize the Internet Archive had user accounts that could be compromized.

Only thing I've ever used it for was the wayback machine to find old articles that have gone offline :p

I'm genuinely curious. What are the accounts for?

I guess my question is, did they just steal the logins, or did they also inject malware into the archived content?
 
31 million records? Records of what? Webpages everyone could see anyways? Or do people create accounts at Archive.org?
 
Internet Archive has become a massive quasi pirate site (from a copyright holder perspective). Tons and tons of media is being uploaded, or being used as a tracker for torrents. I absolutely could see very powerful companies looking for more “creative” ways of taking out Internet Archive since previous attempts haven’t worked as well.
