1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Building for a schoolteacher friend who is still in college. Must be ablte to run MSOFFICE and at least 5-10 Internet explorer windows,
Avast Antivirus and either play pandora or Stream movies like netflix. Onboard is o.k. for now.
She used an intel gma95c integrated before on a laptop with 8mb shared....

.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
300 is what she is asking ... I would say 320 MAX.

3) Where do you live?
Not near any computer Places... Everythign will be bought from Newegg only.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case,PSU,Motherboard,Ram,harddrive,DVD burner, Proccesor.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

Emachines keyboard, mouse speakers, 1280by1024 emachines crappy lcd.

6) Will you be overclocking?
no

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
1280by1024 emachines crappy lcd.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
asap

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.

Needs to be legacy to connect her printer and keyboard and mouse.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Yes provided by her college. win7 32 bit

Burner needs to be silent if changed (NOT LITEON). Good warrenty on the harddrive, at least 1mb l2 cache on cpu, and not a foxcon board.
This is what ive come up with .... I'm not familar with AMD lately so not sure what would equal peformance.
but hands down 320 is max no more whatsoever.

Honestly at this price range I would get her a prebuilt system like this emachines, unless you want to end being her tech support agent instead of Newegg/Acer.

Wait does her printer still uses the parallel port or something?

I assume he means he needs a mobo with a parallel port and some ps/2 ports. I don't even know if you can find a new board with those on it anymore.

I would definitely recommend going the pre-built route here. You may be able to find a Dell refurb or something in that price range.

Most of today's boards have PS/2 ports for the keyboard and mouse, and there are parallel-to-USB adapters available.

Since it's still Back to School season, and because you're working with such a limited budget, I also agree with the recommendation of going with a prebuilt system.

just out of curiosity but what do you have against lite-on and foxconn that their parts cant be included in your build?

Foxconn makes many OEM boards and supplies parts to several manufacturers. I'm running a Foxconn F35A motherboard that has my Q6600 completely stable at 3.4GHz. No qualms with their products here!

I pretty much ordered the parts below to build a $300 dollar computer for my uncle. Like other members have said, prebuilts might be worth considering at this price point, maybe check out the Dell outlet. I'd rather build one though.

The BP430 is one of two PSUs in the Basiq series that are made by Delta rather than FSP.
