Hi everyone,

What would be a good rate to purchase the thunderbolt display?

I know it's 1k new, but these prices have not budged for a few years.

Also, 1k seems to be way too much for just a monitor.

So what would be a good price, and is there anything comparable?

I would be using the display as an external monitor for my macbook pro retina.

The previous version ("LED Cinema Display") seems to have a low around $500 on eBay. I would expect $650 to be a good buy on a thunderbolt version. Good buy only if you're actually using the spec it brings to the table. 2560x1440 displays are everywhere these days and this panel isn't the newest tech.
 
A thunderbolt display is a unique decision:
-you will many trouble running it outside of a mac
- for the price you pay for the apple you can get 3 koreans of same size and panel, or a 39" 4k TV, or a 30" or a 27" NEC and a thunderbolt hub.

The old imac 27" can be used as a monitor using the displayport input , and while not having the thunderbolt hub, it is just as good as the standalone monitor, but with more resale value.
