no, what's annoying is when apple has a security flaw, we get pages and pages of just disgusting comments that really don't have anything to do with the topic at hand, but when android has a security flaw, you know like the HTC one a few weeks ago or when it was sending random text messages to people, it goes largely unnoticed. I guess that's what happens when nobody gives two shits about your product.

at least they don't get viruses like pcs....
Didnt know hardocp had such hate for apple products.
"Smart cover"? That marketing people must have been doing too many drugs that day.
Picked this quote up off an article at CNN, thought it was pretty funny.
"The easiest way to safeguard your computer? Ditch the Windows machine. A Mac will keep the contents of your computer safer, says Avi Rubin, a computer science professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. That's because Windows has a bigger market share, so it's a natural target for hackers."
When "experts" keeping say this then everyone will keep believing that everything at Apple is perfect.
Not only computers can cause failure, every technology has only limited reliability. They can and will lose your data
They can and will fail
They can and will cause you huge head aches
Why? Because they're still a computer. And computers do this regardless of who makes them.
It's a niche website for PC hardware enthusiasts. It is dripping in advertising banners and news links that redirect to the same article and even more banners. They have a vested interest in keeping people hating Apple products and to carry on tinkering with bits of PC hardware and visiting their website. The forums are a great source of information for PC hardware but if you have any interest in Apple products then this is the last place you should visit!

The airport extreme is actually dual band 802.11n. The superdrive is just a name, lame marketing, mightymouse is just a name and I'll revert back to you're gonna use the mouse you want to in a windows environment and its not like you can't use that same mouse in a mac environment.Kind of like "Airport Extreme", "SuperDrives", and "MightyMouse"
Actually just 802.11g, a DVD burner, and a crappy optical mouse.
Just to add its not that you can't "tinker" with an iphone/ipad/or osx. Anyone can write apps for OSX, and more often than not most people who tinker with their android phone are gonna run a custom rom which is the equivalent of jailbreaking an apple device. This is a site for people who like to ticker with all kinds stuff, including phones. Windows is popular with a crowd like this when it comes to PCs because it's relatively open, easy to use, and supports an pretty open gaming with the powerful PC hardware. On the phone side, people LOVE Android because it represents a lot of what Windows is on the PC, relatively easy to tinker with and lots of options.
People here usually like to tinker and the products that are popular here tend to reflect that philosophy. It's not so much about hating Apple hating is it is the locked down and prepackaged nature of their products. One of the reasons that a lot of people here for instance don't like Windows Phone and blast it for being locked down and prepackaged.

I probably should have clarified before I get blasted, yeah I know rooting =/= jailbreaking. The airport extreme is actually dual band 802.11n. Its not that it can't be done, a lot of people just tend to overlook it and dismiss anything that is apple.
People are misinformed for the most part like stating that OSX had no alt-tab and that the dock was useless/confusing/ugly when in fact it can very customized.
While Apple sucks at security, they excel in marketing and lawsuits.

Nothing is perfect regardless of who makes it and what platform it is. But can that same argument be made for Droid phones? To further even derail this thread, do most Droid manufacturers promote rooting and overclocking? (legitimate question)One can tinker with anything, it's just that some products encourage, even promote it, and that's simply not the Apple mantra. I mean Apple doesn't exactly promote jailbreaking or overclocking does it? The whole persona of Apple products are one's that are perfect out of the box and never need any tinkering.
Not to my knowledge.Nothing is perfect regardless of who makes it and what platform it is. But can that same argument be made for Droid phones? To further even derail this thread, do most Droid manufacturers promote rooting and overclocking? (legitimate question)
LOL, gotta love the apple people crying that this is false....
uh no, its not. Get real and realize..... this is a BAD flaw that most users DO NOT KNOW about. Hence, it should NOT BE SET LIKE THIS BY DEFAULT (cough, SECURITY FLAW for clueless users, cough)
Just because the 1% of you here (on hardforum, so you at least have half a brain in techy stuff) know how to fix it does not mean the other clueless 99% know this is trouble!
This is like selling a car, and not telling the users that the doors don't lock (but you can enable locks by doing this special setting we don't tell you when we sell it!)
100% no different, see.... your shit (phone 4S, or the car in this caes) will get stolen and it will be TOO LATE to get your privacy back. Of course, the 1% of mechanics would figure this out like you guys do with your phone, but the 99% of people driving the car will remain CLUELESS to the security flaw.
Spot on. And what's funny is its not apple paying for the advertising or lawsuits... its the appleheads who buy the phones! They are getting jipped off at $100-300 PER PHONE, PURE PROFIT (fact is, iirc, the iphone costs $158.00 to make in China, LOL look it up). While other phones that can basically do 99% of the same hardware (and even more hardware, like NFC chips in the new nexus phones) sell for $0 on a contract.

Hey I know you know this, but ALL products are advertised as perfect. NOBODY is gonna advertise their products otherwise.I wasn't just speaking of phones but computer hardware as well. Apple sells black boxes that are advertised as perfect and requiring no technical knowledge or effort to do amazing things, Apple products are magical out of the box. This is Apple's raison d'être.
