Whats the chance of it working quad channel?
It depends on a lot of things. The board in question and the CPU in question. If you try it with a first generation Threadripper, you are going to have a bad time. If you try it with a 2nd or 3rd generation Threadripper, your chances are much better. Despite Intel's X299 platform being rather excellent, your odds are mixed on some boards. I've seen more issues with memory compatibility on X299 than I have on most Intel platforms.
