updated: added pics.

might be a little O/T but my question is audio and pc related..

I just began a new carputer project and just finished the first stage which was to get all my sound deadening done, headunit, speakers, and wiring completed.
still have to add 2 IDMax's, build a box, deaden the trunk. Here are the components so far...

Pioneer DEH-P880PRS head unit
Focal 165KF 6.5" in front
Focal 130KP 5 1/4" for rear (I have a 4 door GS400 and drive clients around so I need em)
Batcap 800
200sqf of deadener
Memphis Belle 5 Channel ST1300D
4 x 75W + 1 x 300W @ 4 ohm
4 x 115W + 1 x 600W @ 2 ohm
1 x 1100W @ 1 ohm (subwoofer channel)
2 x 230W @ 4 ohm bridged (main channels)

2x12" Image Dynamics IDMax D4v3

I have pics of my whole interior ripped out to install deadening. (What a nightmare at the temps outside. I had to use a heatgun since it wouldn't even stick to the paper it was mounted to)
I probably ordered too much (200sqf) :). I am now in the process of putting the computer together but had questions about the audio.

If you have done this.. what did you do? I plan on using my EMU1212M but was wondering if I can go with an all digital connection. Is there a processor that I can use to have digital
inputs that I would output to an amp? Should I just use my AUX input and go analog? I am trying to figure out the best method to get clean audio to my amps from my computer.

Thanks in advance. I will have pics up soon of what I have so far. I am in Atlanta for work at the moment but will be back home this weekend to upload them.

also.. a good friend of mine offered to trade me his Phoenix Gold TI Comp 6 components for mine. I have read that they were produced by Morel from a few different places online. Very tempting..
should I do it? I really like the sound of my Focals after breakin though.

some pics so far.

Nice components there. My Truckputer started with a USB soundcard (Griffin i-mic) that fed directly into a custom active crossover and then into three 41Hz.com Amp 3s. The USB ended up being too flaky in the long run, so I ran shielded lines from the onboard audio to the crossover. My weak link is my speakers - the front 4x6s are highly constrained by depth and the only ones I could find that would fit were some really cheap Pioneers. I ripped the craptacular Mylar tweet out and replaced it with a cloth dome, with a great improvement in highs. My rears are better 6x9s, but still not great. (For reference, my home theater uses PeeCreek speakers upgraded with Usher tweeters and in a transmission line enclosure). I figure road and engine noise (Chevy RamJet 350 with dual exhausts!) coupled with my inability to really add sound dampening, will really destroy any ability to have fine audio in my vehicle.

I know nothing about carputers but I do want to say nice system. I have an IDMAX V3 sitting in my closet. It sounded great with a cheap amp they should sound wonderful on a good amp.
been playing with the idea of a carputer for the new car but i dont know how it would like these iowa winters.

Iowa? Meh. Try an Alaskan winter. Some days my carputer won't even boot because it's less than 5 degrees. I'm not sure exactly why, but it won't boot automatically.

I just moved out of Chicago and I thought "that" was bad. :D
