Anyone collect vintage Portable CRT TV's ?

You are either the perma-bachelor male geek equivalent of a cat lady, or you have the most understanding significant other ever.

^^ LoL.
Neither,
I like to get obscure things that no one or not many people have.

Can not bring myself to scrap this one.

Free to good home SHARP SQ-46P portable. Runs off AC or 12VDC. Not as clean as some of OP's sets but perfectly functional. Probably cost prohibitive to ship to OP's collection but I will actually subsidize shipping somewhat to get this set preserved. If someone in the greater Puget Sound area would take it that would be great.

Made in Japan.
MSRP was $319.95 in 1969

Managed to find this 1976 Toshiba Blackstripe C355C 13" Color TV.
I Bought it at an estate sale in February 2014. i already have a mint red cabinet of this same set, but I said what the heck ! Too rare to pass up !
It is in real nice shape, a bit yellowed ontop because the owner had a 1980's Samsung cable box on it (which I took as well)
The set also came with the pedestal and owners manual.
Here's a few pics and video.

Picked up this obscure vintage JIL (Jutan International Limited) Concerto model JCTV 1580 13 inch Color TV off of KIJIJI today for free. Works and looks like new.
Doesnt seem like it was used much. It is a very clean set.
Made in Taiwan.
I cant find any info on it. Not sure the exact year but probably 1982-1987ish.
Seems to resemble an RCA set of that vintage.

Oh man, does that one bring back memories. Had it in my bedroom as a kid hooked up to a Commodore 128 and a hand-me-down betamax player (with a couple dozen tapes).

I specifically remember staying up past my bedtime with the sound down low to watch Twin Peaks on it.

This thread is awesome. Thanks for sharing.

BTW, I used to have an old Toshiba Blackstripe from 1970s as a kid. The Atari 2600 radiated so heavily, and the TV was so sensitive to EM interference that I didn't even have to attach the two to play. :)

Managed to save this one from the garbage. Brought it home, cleaned it up, plugged it in and works like new ! It has a few scratches here and there but nothing too visible. Love the fake woodgrain.lol

It is made in Singapore in 1987.
Anyone have any info on it ?
Model number is: Hitachi CT-1367
Hitachi Remote CLU-190

nice!!

ive always wanted a living room retro 70's styling and one of those bubble tvs as a showpiece.

nice collection op.

This thread rules so hard. Thanks for sharing so far.

In the ad above, did the guy get kicked out by his wife and decided to bring his TV to watch the game, or did he watch the game outside so he wouldn't get kicked out? Chicken and egg... In any case, that's hilarious.

I'm set on buying that portable to bring to my next tailgate.

Found this 1986 Pulser (Canadian Tire brand) model 45-2019-0 14" Color TV this weekend.
Works nice, good shape, Made in Korea.
Is it a Daewoo CRT ? Or Samsung ?

I feel like you should start a museum, complete with Atari's and NES's, and old TV shows.

I find it interesting how many of these have the words "Solid State" written on them. Since it's always in an easily visible location, I'm guessing that was a buzz-word back then.

Here's a rarity, probably one of the last tube TV's made during this time period. I got this for free from local classifieds.
It has a nice picture even for an SPC TV set (silver plastic crap)
14" flat screen
Made in Thailand
Comes with remote
Rear component input and front RCA composite jacks

Here's another freebie I own - 1991 Emerson EC1331 14" Color TV. Made in Korea. From the listing, I had no idea what year it was from or even if it worked ! I had to drive about 40 minutes to get it. Anyways, I brought it back home, cleaned it up and turned it on. Works as it should. :smoke:
I never knew TV sets made in the early 90's still had the knobs on the tuner and woodgrain look as well !

Anyways, here's some pics and a video.

Love the design of that tv and love how the kept the same style for 3 decades. In the first image was one I had a year ago from 1986. It was in bad shape and one of the tubes was cracked and the tv died. The second one is my current tv from 1985. Beautiful picture. Great for any console pre PS1. The third image is a pictur I took while watching The Big Lebowski (1998). The forth one is a screenshot from a youtube video I was watching on using your Genesis controller with your Atari. Both the ones I have owned are 11" and I believe the ones in The Big Lebowski and the youtube video are as well. Probably my favorite style for portable tvs. Thanks
