anybody actually "have" a conroe processor?

Uh yeah, for almost a month now. Got one of the first retail E6600's.
 
Ordered my 6600 from buy.com about 2 weeks ago and still nothing. At first it said "Usually ships in 1-2 weeks", now it says On Order. So who knows, but for $339 retail, I guess I can wait.
 
Have "had" and been using mine for 5 days straight. Very worthwhile upgrade IMO.
 
I had mine for a week now. I originally ordered a retail from Buy.com but got impatient and ordered an OEM from ClubIT.
 
I ordered my E6400 from eWiz on Monday the 7th and had it by Wednesday the 9th.

I just can't justify waiting a month to save $20.

I got mine second week of August and I'm loving it.
 
Got my e6700 late Friday 8/18, got it running today. Had some problems getting it to post, but it was my own fault. didn't clear the cmos properly after flashing to the 1101 bios. Once I figured that out I was on my way. I'm a noob builder :)
 
got my 6600 last week, had to wait til thursday for the scythe infinity though
 
My x6800 also should be here Friday from ClubIT. First order from them and I was impressed when I accidently ordered two x6800s and 30 seconds later ClubIT called to make sure I wanted two of these. I said no only one please. Seems like a good place. Just waiting for 590 board to come out. Thought about buying Asus NForce 4 SLI board but thought I might as well wait for 590 SLI.
 
LOL, AMD guys are still spreading FUD about availability and unfortunately people like the OP believe it. It'll be the year 2010 and there will still be people saying "NO RETAIL CONROES AVAILABLE!!!"

Joking aside, yes, there are lots of people who have had Conroe for months, and even some that have had it for weeks before it was even released.

Yeah, it is fun to watch the scales tip. Last year about this time it was the same situation, except Intel !!!!!!s were lauding the "limited" availability of the X2 chips. Thing is, C2D has already shipped more pieces than AMD delivered for 2 months+.
 
Excuse me for my ignorant. IF availability isn't an issue, why the hell is the retailer jacking up the price so much?

This phenomina is known as "profit."

Do you expect the retailors to give them away? These chips do not have an MSRP. The issue in question is not necessarily availability so much as demand; Core2 Duo CPUs have a very high demand right now.

a 6600 off ebay that shipped today, for 312 dollars :) 4 dollars less then msrp for a retail a baby :) its also a b2 stepping.

lol ,i have had mine for three weeks and it runs at room temps when on idle and on load , you know why? cos its still in a box

When I tried S754 A64 3700 for the 1st. time...impressed, then with 6700ES....WOW:)(with all AMD FXs and Conroe ESs stepping4/5 B0/B1 to 6400 retail... in between).
 
One things for sure is everyone wants one, so it's going to be limited for awhile I think. Word is that Intel has large orders to fill with the big computer manufacturers first and the retail market is getting the back seat, especially with the E6600, E6700 and the X6800 units. Those of us who have gotten a hold of the faster Core 2's are the fortunate few. I am one of the few that spent too much money for an X6800 Extreme. :D
