Antec P182 Gun Metal Black ATX Mid Tower

You can go here to see the system I'm looking to build. Its primary use is for gaming, in case you were wondering.

So is that case a good pick? Is it big enough? Have enough features? Anything else I'm missing? If you want to suggest a different case, please try to keep it within $20 of the P182 because I'm nearing my price cap.

Thanks in advance!

dude you can just make one big thread under general hardware instead of making seperate posts for every single piece :)

CM 690

one of the first reviews on that antec was that it was a tight fit even for an 8800GT. this was my first case ever. it housed a gtx 260 no problem. it also has great airflow and plenty of spots for fans.

plus, it's 80 bucks

i had that case and my 8800GT was a tight fit, i could barely use the harddrive bay right in the front with out cables touching.

I had the original P180 and that case was so heavy. I ended up getting rid of it.

I'm getting a GTX 280, and I heard those things are huge. So I guess that means I need something a little roomier, right?

Case is great. If you want to put a bigger video card in you have to sacrafice the middle drive cage.

From reading your components list, it sounds as though you will only have 1 hard drive, with the possible addition of 1 down the road + 3 optical drives. The P182 will be fine for this and the GTX 280, you will just have to remove the middle hard drive cage, which will leave you with room for 4 hard drives in the lower hard drive cage.

The P182 is well designed for both cooling and quietness, and the later revisions have improved cable management.

Another good case for it's size and what you are putting in it is the Antec mini P180...it is a smaller case version of the P182 but with improved air flow, and again, just remove the lower hard drive cage and a GTX 280 will fit just fine, still having room for 4 hard drives in the upper cage.

Check this Thread: for some pictures and info on both cases.

I love P180's. And i Love antec. Rarely do i get a case made by any other company.

It is heavy, but I would rather have something heavy and durable. then Something Light, and cheap.

How about fitting two GTX 280s in there if I want to SLI?

Also, would this case be any better?

Thanks!

The P180/182 should be able to fit a second card as well with the middle HD cage removed.

As for that XClio case, it's not even in the same league as the Antec when it comes to build quality. The Antec is better, no doubt.

the build quality seems top notch but it seems rather big for what it is. i would have loved to get a mini p180 but wanted a atx mobo =(

Speaking from experience, I can tell you that drive doors often lose their luster pretty quickly. If you use removable media drives with any frequency at all, you'll likely end up leaving the door open all the time which, I think, defeats the purpose of a nice, clean facade.

Of course, if you only rarely use removable media or drive bay-mounted devices, then that argument is probably moot.
