I hope it is not a sacrilegious thing to mention it on this forum...
I just cant stand the noise and size of my desktop in my room. I need something clean and quiet.
Do you guys have any ideas on what I could throw together for about $ 600.
Nothing too powerful but not slow either.
thanks for the help.
If that Dell was really quiet to you and the size was right, then I would actually recommend that over a DIY setup for the simple fact that we can't guarantee low noise with the specific type of form factor.
Like I said, I was specifically referring to the slim mATX form factor that particular Dell PC uses. I've yet to see a DIY setup with that specific form factor that would be considered "quiet". With that said, I don't have loose standards for temperatures anyway.Sure we can. The problem is that too many enthusiasts get all caught up in the "OMG my CPU is overheating at 55°C." Once we accept the fact that at stock speeds Intel CPUs were designed to perform up to insanely high temps (what is T-Junction on an Ivy, 105°C or so?) then it is possible to make really quiet computers, just like the big OEMs.![]()
