I currently have 2x1gb of OCZ Reaper HPC ddr2-800. I'm looking to add 2gb more. Is there any disadvantage in keeping the Reapers and getting two more 1gb ddr2-800's, or is it better to replace my current dimm's with two 2gb's?

Biggest disadvantage would be that you cna't upgrade to 8GB of RAM in the future. Second would be the higher chance of a lower OC.
 
there used to be a debate as to whether or not 4x1GB was faster back when 8GB was unspeakable, but now there is no question. I really don't recall what the controversy was over, perhaps just the expense. definitely go with 2x2GB.
 
Yeah I have never had an issue using 2x2gb, but 4x1gb can cause issues, even though it shouldn't. You definitely may see more issues when OC'ing.
 
Echo'ing everyone elses sentiments here. 4x1GB occasionally has motherboard compatibility issues. I've not experienced it, but seen others report about it on the forums. It also limits future expansion, and users report it can limit overclocking.

2x2GB is the only way to go, IMO.
 
I had problems with my AMD 4000+ and filling all slots dropping my FSB to 333 Mhz.

That was an issue with the memory controller in older S939 CPUs not being able to keep up with running four sticks at DDR400 speeds. Current hardware doesn't have that problem, although running four sticks often can reduce maximum overclocks.
