What do you guys think of the sonata 380w TruePower, my friend hooked me up cause he works at compUSA, retails for 129 + tax, i got it for 97.00 also he's hooking me up with win xp, pro, but my question is. Is this case good enough for

P4 2.4C northwood Non/HT
Thermalright xp-90
Abit IC7-G max II
Kingston PC2100 1gig
BFG 6800 GT OC
80Gig Maxtor ATA
Digifire 7.1 sound
Generic Cd/RW drive
Floppy
and couple micelanious fans.

thanks guys

It should be fine, although a tad on the tight side.

Sell that 2100 RAM and get some high quality 3200 (or higher if you are overclocking).

oh yeah i will, i can get my friend at compusa to hook me up since he's the manager. Freebies :)

is this the truepower I or II. because the original truepowers that came in the sonata were really lacking on the 12v rail.

If it was recently manufactured. Until yesterday my main rig (including the disk farm) was running off of that PS. I had a Radeon 9800pro in there also for awhile. I just got the neopower 480.

18A on the 12v rail isn't too bad for that rig. The case may be a bit small for that thermalright, depending on how you mount it and on your mobo. Still, I don't forsee any major problems.

well if things dont fit to right, i can always take it back. I just bought it today for 97.00 couldn't pass up that deal. hopefully everything fits nicely. im not to big on gigantic server cases. it doesn't say when it was manufactured, well i didnt take the psu out. but its the version 1, Antec truepower 380s [+12v 24A] [+5v 35A] [+3.3v 28A] [-5v 0.5A] [-12v 1.0A] [+5v sb 2.0A] It also says on the antec psu, Serial Ata Ready, i saw a older pic of the sonata and it didnt have that on there psu. just thought that might help.

I just want my computer to run decently so i can play some games and do work. any imput is greatly appreicated. Thanks for all ther quick reply's. Hard is a great community.

You have the newer one. It's a pretty good little PSU. If it had native 24 pin support, it would be almost ideal for a lot of SFF builds with its 12 bias.

Yes, you have the SONATA Version 1, but the PSU is version 2. Mine only had 18 amps on the 12v rail, and yours has 24 amps. You could probably run significantly more hardware than my rig with that PSU. Good luck.

I had the original Sonata with the V1 PSU and it was great for me. Ran overclock A64 S939 3200+ (1.6v), Asus A8V, 9800Pro, 3 HDs, DvdRw, 3 120mm fans, PCI TV tuner, Audigy 2, Modem, PCI 3com 905c network card, and a bunch of USB devices fine.

Thanks guys Appreciate all your comments and feedback. Your guys make hard What it is.
