I am looking for a good power supply for a htpc/moderate gaming rig. I have a pretty quite system now, zalman cpu cooler, and vga coolers on low speed, 3 120mm fans in my antec p180, the only thing you can really here is the power supply and when the cd drive spins up.
I'm wondering if anybody has had good success with the antec phantom 500w. I only have a 6800GT agp and a mild overclock.
If you have any other PS to suggest feel free. The most important thing is sound.
And yes I have a place with good air flow for the P180. Temps are also nice and cool at present.

I was never a fan of passively cooled power supplies. They run hot and still require a good mount of case airflow for them to work within specification. If you ran a Phantom in a P180, you would probably need to run the lower-chamber 120mm fan, which can cause problems when you want to do some wire management.

I would suggest getting a conventional fan-cooled PSU, like a Seasonic S12+E and enjoy lower temperature output overall. By going this route, you can also remove that lower 120mm fan and eliminate one more fan from the equation.

I'll third Seasonic - never much cared for the Phantom line. CWT made units have enough trouble keeping their Fuhjyyu caps cool without taking the fans out completely or making them passive up to a certain load level.
