Antec P180

Will most of the case door issues be resolved with the new purchases on a p180? or is alot of the stock still the older door variation?
 
My last computer problem was solved with a beep code. If the 180 doesn't have a speaker, it's likely I'll install one in it.
 
I have been informed the Ultra -d has a speaker for error codes and a light display
 
How do you prevent scrathes on the bottom of the P180

Secondly, what kind of connection are the three fans? If not, 3 pin,do you recommend getting adapters

I will be using an Enermax Liberty abd I do not want to take up 3 molex on the fans

L3wd: Not sure how to prevent scratches on the bottom. There are rubber feet on the bottom, but aside from that, I don't know. The fans are 4-pin molex connectors (with only two wires actually connected). If you don't want to use up molex connectors, I suggest getting adapters.

I know but what kind of adapters ... this stuff is pretty new to me :)
 
I wouldn't ever run 120mm fans off a motherboard header.... I've burned out too many headers because large fans draw too much power...

I run all my P180 fans as they came... 4 pin molex
 
Like GamerZ said, the general consensus is not to use the 3-pin motherboard headers with more powerful fans like most 120mm ones. But say you want to hook the tricools up to a fan controller, you would need 4-pin to 3-pin adpaters like these. I'm not really sure how you would do that though, I suppose leave all the fans set to high and use the fan controller to adjust instead of the low-med-high switch. Has anyone done this?

For the bottom section, is it better to keep the fan in the middle or take it out and put it in front? that area for me is very very cramp and made my cable management messy. Man this thing is heavy :(

From the fan to the mobo tray, by my estimate, looks to be about 1" to 1.25" - it's kind of hard to tell. I'd say somewhere in the middle. Do you need to-the-decimal measurements?

From the standoff to the top is almost exactly 2". Again, it's not accurate to a hundredth of a decimal, but I'm hoping it's adequate. :)

Yujie: I'd recommend just keeping the fan in the middle, mainly because in order to put a 120 in the lower section in the front, you have to remove a bracket between the lower hard drive cage and the front of the case, which, from what I saw, looks to be a lot of work. Not to mention I would think space would get tight if you have drives in the lower cage like I do.
 
Yeah thats one of my complaints about the case. I definitely had to take my fan out. I took the bottom 38mm fan and stuck it up top to push air out. I definitely had little room to work with in the lower chamber if I left the fan in.

I think if I had a modular psu, it might be easier to manage down there WITH a fan, but with my Antec 550, there was no way.

here's my p180, stuffed to the gills with hardware:

the wiring looks pretty bad, but it's the best i could do considering how much is in this case. i wanted to route the atx and some of the power cables behind the motherboard tray, but there's a lip separating the bottom psu chamber from the top portion that seems to be flush with the side panel which would make a significant bulge in the panel behind the motherboard.
 
I just purchased a P180 from Compusa before their sale ran out (figured I might as well get it since they have a 3 week all-money-back return policy).

In the store I had them open the box to make sure the door was flush. It was.

Then I put it in my car and took it home. I made a few stops along the way. After 3 hours in a pretty cold car, by the time I got it home the door had completely warped. the middle is now bulged out about a 1/2". I emailed Antec, we'll see what they say.
