Antec P180

Nope.

There's 4 rectangulat holes that are spaced apart much further than a 120mm fan's mounting locations for a grill.

You'd need to do some modding.
 
How is this case in general, I am thinking about picking it up at Frys

Any huge dissapointments
 
other then the warping door? not really. I got my new solid alum door from RMA and now im happy.
 
How has the cooling layout worked out for you?
Hows the toolless system?

Did you get the case with the bad door or did it happen over time with regular use
 
I have the case, and I've enjoyed it very much. Wire management is as notoriously difficult as they say it is, but I managed to figure something decent out.

My main complaint is its weight - it really is as heavy as people say it is. That said, if you're like me and only go to LANs from time to time, it's not really a big deal, but if you're an avid lan-goer and go frequently, it may not be the case for you.

Cooling's alright. It's a few degrees higher than my other case (ASUS A8N-SLI Premium with the heatpipe and a Zalman CNPS7700Cu give me 32C/40C idle/load on CPU, 36C/38C idle/load on chipset and 40C idle on the graphics card, didn't check my load temps on that), but they're still very manageable. Had to add a front intake though, since it didn't come with one.

Toolless system is...well, not as toolless as they say. :p All the drives are secured in the drive bays with weird custom screws (I think) that screw into rubber grommets to prevent the drive from creating any unnecessary vibration. All pci and pci-e cards and so forth have to be screwed in, and the PSU requires screws as well, so it's hardly a toolless solution (even the fans need screws, where my Chieftec Dragon didn't). However, it's not terribly difficult, since everything's pretty easily accessible.

Finally. I have the plastic/aluminum door, and it hasn't warped on me yet (I keep it closed about half the time, and I've seen no warping), so I don't know if I got lucky or the temperature just hasn't changed enough or something, but I've had no issues with that.

They do, the warping doors were a combination of aluminum and plastic, but I've heard people say that the newer doors (e.g. those received after sending them off to Antec for a replacement) are made entirely of aluminum.

Update: Reapplied thermal paste to my heatsink, sure was dirty on the bottom. Idle temp is now 29C.
 
Could one of you guys post a pic of the top of the case with, and without, the fan cover?

There you go. :) As you can see I stuck a different Antec fan in the top fan space, but more importantly you can see the two screws on the outside of the case that hold it in (within the case there's a groove that you put one side of the fan in, and you secure the other side with the screws).

That doens't look too bad without the top bit, that said, it doesn't exactly look that bad with it on now that I see some normal pictures.

Are those 120MM fans on the back and top? Also, are the two front intake fans 120mm as well, and are all of them included in the case at purchase?
 
The case has accomodations for one front 120 (there's a post a few pages back, though, that details how to fit a second 120 in, through the removal of a bracket in front of the lower HDD cage), two 120s in the back (one back, one top) and one 120 in the lower portion of the case, between the bottom harddrive cage and the PSU. It includes one 120mmx120mmx38mm in the lower portion, and two 120mmx120mmx25mm (I think; whatever the dimensions are) for the top and back. All three of the included fans are Antec TriCools, with switches on them to change fan speeds.

I feel I should let you know, just for the sake of knowing, that the wiring, being notoriously difficult, is not without a few sacrifices. For instance, here's what I managed to pull off:

On the plus side, I'm happy with it. On the other hand, there's not a lot of space between the mobo tray and the back side of the case, so there's a slight bulge near the bottom where I couldn't force the hooks in (it has screws, so it's screwed tightly in, but there's still a small bulge, pretty evident if you look straight down from the top). It's nothing major, and there is a fair amount of room behind the top drive cage for stuff, but good wiring, in my case anyway, comes at a small price. :p
 
Does anyone know if the Enermax Libertys cables are long enough for the P180
 
Miller, just wondering if I could ask a couple favors of you :D .

It would be great if I could get a picture that is from the bottom of the case looking directly up at the top 120mm "blowhole" fan. At least at as best of an angle as you can get.

Also if I could get a couple measurements that would be amazing. The first is a measurement indicated in this picture...

But instead of the measurement from the top of the case, take that measurement from the inside of the case, so basically the distance from the motherboard tray to the start of the fan.

The other measurement is from the top of the inside of the case to the top of the first standoff/screw indicated here (I say to the first screw because our motherboards probably have different heights, so using the top of the mobo wouldn't be very accurate whereas the screw is a fixed location)...

I'm planning on getting this case with watercooling in mind. I have everything planned out in my head to use a Black Ice Pro II, and these measurements should confirm if what I'm thinking is possible, so please make them as exact as possible, (mm even?)

no, you never need to open the other side of the case unless you want to rout some cables that way.
 
I'm loving mine. Once I did a half ass mod to my chipset cooler which was the loudest thing in the case after migrating to the P180 - my computer is as quiet as it's ever been. (the Arctic Cooler 5R3 on the video card is a great help too) The wiring access from the power supply area to the upper area is a pain - but just take your time and you can route everything fairly cleanly. I think they could have done a better job with the PLACEMENT of the sliding cover/hole for the wires to go through (they are too close to the center - and depending on the card you might have installed at the bottom of your board, it could be a problem)
I've got a Manchester core 3200+ ;) undervolted to 1.3, running at 2.5ghz and it stays nice and cool. And did I mention quiet? Haven't tied down the cables in this pic yet. And I took the fan from the power supply area, and installed it in the upper back.

Any idea how a Silverstone Zeus power supply would fit this case? I'm still eyeballing that PSU over in the Hot Deals forum... and yes this will be a SLI build.

Main power lead is plenty long using Zeus 650 watt PS if run in front of mobo.
I just started my build using Asus P5N32 SLI Deluxe mobo (which hasn't arrive, yet.)
Case cage is too small to fit over PS but, screws do match holes in back of case.
Length of PS will make it difficult to leave case 120mm PS fan inplace.

I see, thanks for the pic. I ask because the price $100 for the Zeus seems like a great deal for such a high powered SLI supply.

Just to make sure I understood you correctly--you did no modding to fit the PSU, correct? You chose (as I probably will) to remove the 120mm fan?
 
No mod. The PS fits without PS case cage. Back side screw holes match with case.
I may later replace the "somewhat loud" Adda 80 mm PS outlet fan with a quiet Nexus 80mm and install another 80mm fan to the front of the PS to push enough air thru.
The case 120mm fan may fit on the other side of the bracket but , again will close to the bottom drive cage. When I get further with build, I will update.
I have hooked up the Zeus to my old T1110 and ran my BenQ 1655 DVD player for several hours watching some Jonny Quest episodes to see how hot it would get. Incoming air was 78 F outlet only 80 F after six hours :D
I am sure my T1110 not pushing Zeus at all.

This is my PVR computer. The intent building it was to make the quietest computer I could so I could stand it in the living room. (My computer room is a lost cause, so I don't care how much noise is made there, but the living room is another matter entirely.) I've removed the top fan and the fan in the power supply section. The remaining fan got re-mounted with a Vantec silencing kit, and it runs at low speed. The computer is almost perfectly silent during operation - I find it kind of creepy, actually.

This case is very hard to wire. I originally had a different motherboard and an Antec Neo HE 430 power supply, so the wiring then was *much* better. Unfortunately, the HE 430 was crap, and the motherboard got retasked. Currently I've got an Asus A8N, AMD 3000+, Zalman 7000 heatsink (speed controlled down to minimum), and a Seagate 200gb SATA drive, powered by an Enermax Noisetaker 495. The noisetaker isn't as quiet as the Antec was, but at least the Enermax works.

Is this the warped door problem everybody is talking about? If so, I may have to have a chat with Antec.

What's up with Antec and their "quiet" products, anyway? I started off with an Overture II case, but the powersupply had a known problem where it would always run the fan at top speed and was very noisy. (When I put the workaround in place, it would quickly ramp up anyway. Apparently an AMD 2400+ was too much for quiet operation?) I returned that and got the P180 and the Neo HE 430. Turns out the Neo HE 430 has compatibility issues, so I have to swap that out, and the P180 has problems with its panels! The only thing Antec that I own that I haven't had problems with is the Truepower II 550watt power supply in my game computer. :(

Article mentions it does. Can't believe case speaker omitted and not mentioned in all the different articles I've read. My build is not complete so, I hope someone with a completed build will chime in.
Do newer mobos speak themselves? :confused:

Sorry... but it definately doesn't have a speaker. Who uses beep codes anyway... I just use the force to "sense" error codes :p :rolleyes:
 
I remember reading somewhere that ASUS boards (particularly "talking" ASUS boards such as the A8N-SLI/Deluxe/Premium and A8N-32) won't have a problem with a lack of a speaker. Can't say much for any other board though. Can anyone confirm this?

Got the A8N32 and the P180 and they worked very well together in my sig rig for the last two months. The A8N32 doesn't need a speaker.
