So I guess this is kind of new since I haven't really seen it, or maybe I'm just ignorant lol.

Does anyone know if the quality of this unit is on par with it's younger brothers (380, 430)

I mean newegg has them on sale for $69.99. Someone said Frys has them for $60! I might be stopping by Frys after work today :)
 
damn, 69 amps on three 12 volt rails for $70 . That seems like a really good deal. I just paid more for less.
 
Well it's built by Delta and from what I've read so far, Delta does make good PSUs.

The EA650 only has 45A on the +12V rail. You don't add up the rails together to get the total amperage on the +12V rail. You determine the amperage on the +12V rails by first finding out what's the total combined, max load, combined or max wattage aside for the +12V rails/section alone. Then divide that total by 12 and you get how much amps the PSU has on the +12V rail.

If you were right, that would've meant that the EA650 could provide up to 828W on the +12V rail alone.

the ea650 doesn't support sli and or crossfire and your neo does. and yet my ea500 do support sli.. :confused:
 
The Neopower you bought offers more power than that Earthwatts on the +12V rail. The Neopower 650W has 52A on the +12V rail whereas the Earthwatts 650W has 45A on the +12V rail. The Neopower 650 also has an extra 6+2Pin PCI-E connector for an SLI or Crossfire setup where as the EA650 cannot support either multi-GPU setups. And finally, the Neopower has modular cabling.

However I have not seen a proper review of the EA650 yet so I cannot say with 100% certainty whether or not the EA650 is a good quality PSU. At least with the Neopower 650, we know that it's a good quality PSU.

And no I'm not a PSU expert. Just an enthusiast:)
 
Review on Newegg says it actually has 2x PCI-E connectors. The specs page probably messed up and only counted the 6+2 pin while there's also a regular 6 pin connector as well.
 
I don't see how Danny Bui gets 45A when it has 3 12v Rails @ 22 22 and 25 that seems more like 69A to me?

My PS never goes below 12.04V or so it says in Everest and the System is Rock Stable, I think this 650W would be a sweet buy, too bad it's $130 here where I am. I would recomend these PS's to anyone and everyone.

I don't know, I've been overclocking for a long long time and everywhere I go nowadays the first answer to why my CPU can't get to XXXXMHz inevitebly turns out to be some n00b saying buy a 1000W power supply and that will fix all your problems. It's a shame, my advice, buy this PS and use the adapters that come with your Video Cards to plug em in.

I didnt really see if anyone answered the earthwatts question. From what Iv'e heard I believe it means it will have 80% and above efficiency and when powered off draws less energy. That is just what I heard. If anyone knows for sure what earthwatts means, let me know? I am curios too.

Read the review linked above.

It is 80 PLUS certified, so efficiency is very good, 80% or higher under normal operating conditions.
 
I have been running 9600gt's sli on my EA650 for over a year now.

Not sure what no SLI support means though could just mean not SLI certified. It has 2 PCI-e cables and works in SLI it has enough support for me.

You don't add up the rails like that. You never do. If it was 69A, that would mean that the PSU has 828W of power available on the +12V rail. You determine the amperage on the +12V rails by first finding out what's the total combined, max load, combined or max wattage aside for the +12V rails/section alone. Then divide that total by 12 and you get how much amps the PSU has on the +12V rail.

That's the correct way to find out how much amps a power supply has. Don't add up the amps on the +12V rail to figure out the amperage. Doesn't work that way. If the total combined or max wattage can't be found on the power suppply, check the manufacturer's page for that PSU for that info. If the manufacturer doesn't provide that information, it's generally a good sign for you to drop that power supply from consideration.

So in the case of the Antec EA650, you can clearly see that there is 504W of power available on the +12V rail total on the PSU label here. See the "+12V1, +12V2, +12V3 max load 504"? So divide 504W by 12 and you get 45A.

Ignore any and all software readings for PSU voltages. They are very very rarely accurate. The more accurate way of getting PSU voltages is with a digital multimeter:'

Earthwatts doesn't mean anything. It's just a brand name.
