I found this online and it is only $50 shipped.
It has 2 12v rails and each rail has 17a on them
I have a stock gt5476e pc with a pny 8800gt.I am going to add a blu ray drive soon so that is 2x dvd drives 1hdd,64x2 5000+,8800gt,1 100mm fan,1 80mm fan.

Will this psu be ok and what do you think of them?
I was originally gonna get a corsair 450watt psu but it is $70 and the ea500 is $50 should I get the antec

Should be OK for a single 8800GT. I've run an EA500 with a 640 MB 8800 GTS before, and never had any problems.

The reviews show some pretty good statements, and there are quite a few folks running 8800 GT's with them.

Edit:

I'm looking at the sticker on my EA500, and see that it says +12V1, +12V2 maximum load 408 watts. That should be plenty for the 8800GT.

Running an 8800GT with a EA500. Runs very quiet and the exhaust is barely warm

Take Newegg reviews with a grain of salt. Most of of them are written by people who know nothing about computers in general. Or are retarded. Prime example of why newegg reviews should be taken with a grain of salt: Apevia PSU's constant 4 to 5 star ratings.

With that said, the EA500 is a good quality PSU. It has been properly reviewed:

So get the Antec EA500 right now since it's only $50.

yeah i figured that i should since I can save some cash and also buy it now instead of with my next paycheck.
The only thing is with the psu having dual 12v rails 1 single rail doesn't have enough amps for the video card.
I have never installed a psu so I don;t know anything about single or dual 12v rails and how they differ and also how you would wire everything with one.
DO they have 2 seperate 12v wires coming out the pc? How would you install one compared to a single rail psu?
SOrry for the noob questions but I am trying to learn something

I did the psu calculator and it came up to 295 watts. So the 500 watt is fine.
How do you divide the components to the seperate 12v rails?

I read the bfg Faq and it makes some sense to me.So basically there is a 12v rail which is split into 2 rails. It helps with overload protection.
Now what do all the rails supply power to.I know that PSU's come with a manual helping out on how to connect everything so I am not really worried about it I am just trying to understand everything about them.

All this pc stuff is new to me and I would rather ask you guys instead of reading reviews and getting wrong info and messing something up.
SO at the same time you guys are my treachers and my idiot proof helpers.I really apprecite all the help guys as I sure do need it as I venture my way into first time pc gaming.

I always knew that the 360 isn't the best but without ever seeing a gaming pc in action in person I really don't know.I have taken everyones word on things and I really apprecite you Danny Bui.You have been the greatest help of all.You truely are a great person.

You're welcome.:D It's what I am.

Most PC parts draw power from the +12V rail. Some drives and RAM draw power from the +5V IIRC. The other rails I'm not 100% sure of. Haven't run into any situation where I needed to know that

Ive read a review that said that much of the guts in this guy are the same as the 450W corsair.

Check it out:

Antec 500

Corsair 450 (pretend this is flipped 180 degrees)

The Corsair has black heatsinks and some 105C rated componets while the Antec has 85C (I think) components. Also the Corsair has a 120mm fan and the Antec has an 80mm fan. However the design and layout of the acutal PSU compontents is the same. Power output and ratings almost identical between the units.

well I ended up getting a money order today and ordered the ea500.
FOr $50 it's a steal since I can use the money i was gonna spend on the corsair and buy a game with it sweet.
Thanks again danny bui
