Antec Case Suggestions

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to build a new PC case and I've got my eyes set on the product lineup from Antec. I've heard from many review sites great things about the Antec 900 and the P182, but I hear that the P182 only rivals the 900 in cooling if the case door is left unopened completely, all the time. That's why I'm sort of leaning towards the Nine Hundred, but I've heard that it's a dust magnet. Plus, I don't think I can stand that glowing blue light from the 120mm LED fans. I've heard that many have just taken them out and replaced them with some better fans, but wouldn't buying an Antec Three Hundred and adding additional fans yield the same results? Plus, this would save me the trouble of trying to sell the blue LED fans which many people have been trying to do.

My primary requirement is of course cooling, but I've heard that the 900 captures a lot of dust vs. the P182 and that the 900 offers less acoustic insulation overall than the P182. Any suggestions? Thanks.
 
I can only comment on the 900...

It does have a huge amount of ventilation, with the 3 120mm and the 200mm fan all set to low I can hear the noise produced by the internal components over anything the fans themselves generate and still have a large amount of air flow. THe dust I would guess depends on the environment too, but with that air flow, it does collect quite a lot of dust, much more than I have had with other cases. There are no filters so everything is kinda free flowing, so I always keep compressed air around to blow the system out every once and a while. Overall very good case, only thing I dont really like are how the HDs mount, not very quick to get in and out of.
 
Indeed, it is a dust collector. I keep my on a ceramic tile and it gets a lot of dust entrapped, but is extremely quiet.The hard drive and dvd drive spin up is a lot louder than the fans.

From reading some reviews, it seems the 300 provides similar ventilation without the excess dust due to an enclosure.

Actually yes. IMO, the Antec 900 and 300 are the same quality and cooling wise. I recommend going with the Antec 300 instead since it's $60 with FS and these fans for it:
120mm Yate Loon D12SL-12 Case Fan - $3.60
 
Thanks for the replies! Actually, I neglected to mention that I in fact do own 2 Antec Three Hundreds (not my PC's though) and I'm very impressed by it. You mentioned that the Three Hundred has a front enclosure which I've seen...I thought that the Antec Nine Hundred had the same thing?

I can't really see any improvements from the 900 over the 300 except the side panel, where you can see your components. I guess some prefer having that, but I personally wouldn't mind not having that.

Also, any comments on the temperature deltas for the P182 when the front is opened vs. closed?

Thousand and one holes -cases don't offer any acoustic insulation. Every noise components make will leak directly out of those.
 
Touche. I think I'll go with the Antec Three Hundred and add my own custom fans. Thanks!

I like the 300 and the 900 but I picked a Coolermaster 590 over them both. All very good cases though you can pretty much flip a coin and you be happy with what lands.

Closed means there's a kind of "tube" that goes between the two holes in each corner (where the screws go through). I don't know why they put it there (cosmetics?) but the downside is that they can get in the way of vibration dampening.

Open is the regular or "traditional" kind, where if the fan is screwed in, you can see the screws from the side. WIth closed, the screws would be covered or enclosed by the "tube."
