Another SL6WU Success!

Does any one know where you can get one of these great oc'ers for sure? on a side note if you had a old 3.0c could you put it in the box of the new one to return it?

Well thing is I already have one that doesnt oc to well lol.
So i guess there is no where you can get cash back for an opened proc even frys huh?
 
Get the C and not the E as everyone has been stating. I had a 2.8E running stable at 3.5 but that bitch was HOT. Stable but hot and I was not to comfortable with the heat. I got a 3.0c instead and the thing is running stable and cool @ 3.75 :)

i don't think there is a restocking fee at fry's....but i only bought the oem cpu, not the boxed retail one. so that maybe different

all right - i've ordered a 3.0C from them. i'm stick of running in the mid-50s @ full load with this damn prescott.

Investing in watercooling and STILL getting 50 something temps? Must be frustrating.
 
You wouldn't want it. This one sucks. It can't even boot into windows at 250fsb with 1.7v. This is going on ebay :) .

Still in the process of installing the computer parts :(

Push the SL6WU a little bit. 3.45ghz at 230fbs 1:1 divider. Cas 3 4 4 7. Temps were 55 C

Somehow something is wrong with my heatsink or something which throws high heats at me... It was 50 C on STOCK fbs. You can read about it on the general forum.

But until I figure out the problem of the massive heat, I'll turn it up more and aim for 4 ghz! :D
 
You win the award for understatement of the year ;) . By all accounts this chip should be great: SL6WU, March 2004 pack date...

got the CPU today - it's a SL6WK. i've had one SL6WK 3.0C before - it is now a very expensive keychain. that one could only do 3.5 on water - same results as StrongBadia.

i'll be returning it back to excaliberpc - they already slammed me with restocking fee. but then again, if i cared about $$$, i'd still have my Athlon XP 2000+ from 2 years ago. :)

just noticed - StrongBadia is in memphis, and so am i - for the time being (moving to san francisco tuesday). what a coincidence... "memphis is so slow - even CPUs don't overclock worth shit".
 
I would very very strongly reconsider that!

Another of my friends convinced me to order a 3.0c for him on his word that he would give me the money. I ordered it from excaliber, and to his dismay and mine, it was a sl6wk. Just for kicks, we popped it in his machine and 3.9ghz isnt totally stable but 3.8ghz is 1.65 volts. Oh, thats stock heatsink btw. I would seriously open that especially since these chips were only oredered about a week apart.

On a sad note,
it looks like the time of sl6wus from excaliberpc are over as thats three orders in a row of sl6wk's:(

i just got off the phone with excaliberpc's sales rep - jennie, i believe. she was very nice and checked for me, because i wanted to see if they'd cross-ship an SL6WU if they had one in stock.

guess what: they have 1 SL6WU in stock. it is too late for me to get it - i am moving tuesday and they won't be able to ship it until monday. jennie told me to CALL THEM to check if it's in stock and REQUEST SL6WU in the Notes when making an order "cause shipping doesn't know what you guys need".

anyway, hope this helps someone. :)

oh, and i'm not going to risk this. i need to pc in one piece for the move. i will take care of my CPU needs once i'm there. besides, excaliberpc is in Fremont, and in one week i will be in San Francisco - i will be able to just DRIVE there and PICK IT UP! wow what a concept! :)
 
dude, that's a killer overclock! sweeet. hey! please or somebody please tell me how you made that window with all the icons and stuff. you know, the testing and benchmarks categories and everything. i want to do that man, that rocks! is that in the my computer section? tell me how i can do that pleasssee!

Codeflux, an sl6wu does not guarantee a winner. Look at the one in my sig. :mad:

Maybe once you cross state lines they decide to run at 4ghz :p .

i am counting on that. in fact, i expect my overclock to improve just by the virtue of changing zip codes.

btw, i did get raid to work on ic7-g - i don't understand what the problem is (referring to your sig).
