I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this site. A lot of information and I have spent hours combing through it for my answers. I have taken advantage of some of the Black Friday deals (if you want to call them that) based on the info that I have read on this forum. Please let me know your thoughts and if what I plan to build will work for what I want it for.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Photoshop, Lightroom and web surfing

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Around $1,000 USD

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
U.S. - Northern Baltimore, Maryland

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Purchased
Coolmaster HAF 922 case
ASUS P8Z68-V pro MB
Coolmaster Hyper 212 Plus
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB)
Corsair 650TX (not the V2, is there a big difference?)
WIN 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Need
SSD - thinking Crucial M4 for OS and programs
CPU - thinking i5-2500K and OC it

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
2 TB HD that has photos already on it
Original 320 GB HD to keep word documents and other less used programs on. This is until HD prices come back down
DVD burner
card reader
keyboard and mouse - USB

6) Will you be overclocking?
I plan to

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
Main - HP ZR24w 1920 x 1200
Secondary - 19" Dell res. unknown

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
for the parts that have not been purchased - in the next week

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
Nothing specific but I want to take advantage of the USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s. I plan to use onboard video. I have read that this is fine for Photoshop and image editing

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
No. Purchased Win7 Home Premium 64 bit

Now I am coming from a Dell XPS 400 so the parts that I am reusing are about 5 yrs old and this is my first build.

My questions are:
Can I run both my monitors from the MB?
As stated above, I want to reuse my existing HD's. They are SATA drives but they use that older 4 pin power connector. Is that a problem?
How does all this sound and am I forgetting anything?

Thanks very much for your help!

Chuck

There's a big difference between the V2 and non V2 650TX as the V2 is newer, updated, and performs a tad better. With that said, if it's too late and too costly to return the 650TX, keep it as it should still work fine.

Your CPU and SSD choices are solid. Same for the rest of the parts you purchases. To answer your questions:
1) Yes as long as you connect the HP via DVI or HDMI and the Dell via DVI or VGA.
2) Not really a problem besides low performance
3) Looks solid to me.

Thanks Danny! I've seen a lot of your posts and I can see that you've helped a lot of people.
