hey guys, looks like you have a pretty active comunity here, and eventhough im sure you get alot of people asking for help with overclocking, i have to ask this question as i have not been able to figure this out even after hours of trying. i have an abit in932Xmax motherboard, and a q6600 which is currently clocked at 3.0 ghz, under water. my temps are absolutly fine even under days of folding. (45c max) but when ever i try to go to any where above 3075 mhz, i can post, but i can not load windows. i have tried losening my memory timings, running linked, unlinked and synced but to no avail. ive cranked my v core all the way to 1.55 but i still cant boot windows. i have also tried raising my nb and fsb voltages, but it seems like no matter what i do, i cant boot at anything above 3.075. is there something im doing wrong?

Maybe it's just me, but you have a Q6600 at 3GHz already.

Why do you need to overclock? :|

sorry for the double post, but i want to overclock because if 3 ghz is as far as i can get it, water cooling would have been a total waste of money

What is your memory voltage. Some of the motherboard are reading the factory voltage wrong.

i currently run them at 2.2 volts (when they are overclocked) and i just keep them like that even when i try to overclock teh cpu

I would have bought a higher quality processor instead of spending money on watercooling to cool older hardware.

There are new Quad Cores that can overclock to 4ghz easily, with cheap cooling solutions.

The only "new" quad core is the QX9650 and its a bit expensive. the other 45nm quad cores wont be released for another couple months.

and the q660 is not in any way a low quality processor, it is simply the absolute best price/performance cpu out there since the only other options are q6700 ($200 extra for only 260mhz increase, easily achieved in oc for q6600) and the extreme editions, which are unreasonably expensive.

Looks like you just hit the max OC of that Q6600. Is it the B3 or G0 stepping?
