So I've lost my Razer diamondback Plasma LE. which I loved! I'm now using a microsoft wireless 5000. I am sick and tired of the crappy scroll wheel on this thing. So im in the market for a new mouse. Any other choices would be welcome. I currently game on a 1440x900 screen with a ratpadz XT. I will be upgrading my monitor sometime in the next year.

choices are:

Razor Deathadder
Razer Lachesis (whats so special?)
Razer Diamondback 3G
Microsoft X8 (doesn't look to comfy to me though...)

by the way, if you prefer a smoother scroll you can pop open your mouse and take out the little metal clip inside. Did the same for my MX518.. most optical mice seem to work the same way.

lol ever heard of logitech?

actually I have a logitech wireless mouse sitting right beside me. For some reason I can't get it to sync with its cradle. Thats the FIRST thing i tried. I do not want the scroll wheel smooth. thats the problem with the microsoft mouse. its smooth and you have to move it a good bit before it starts registering the move. Its pretty bad lag on that part. When I want to scroll, I want to scroll NOW. I don't know what the current logitech offerings are. They have so many mice its crazy.

Get a Logitech G5, I don't know why you are trying to game a on a wireless mouse anyway, its just a pain in the ass between input lag(some of them) and recharging/batteries.

i swear by the lachesis, but i think the deathadder is held in the highest regard by most gamers.

wireless mice effectively dont allow you to change the polling rate to 500hz/1000hz, so they arent as precise.

Pull out the contacts on the Logitech cradle a bit. My MX1000 (best mouse ever, including for gaming) makes positive contact every time since doing that.

Get another Diamondback. I tried the Lachesis and Death Adder. Neither mouse felt as comfortable as my Diamondback 3G.

I've never liked the "upside down bowl" feel of Logitech's mice.

mouse poll without the G5!, it's like a hotness poll without .... hmmmm megan fox :)

mx518 or deathadder if you're into fps gaming because optical > lazer at low sens (the only way to play fps). Otherwise it really depends on your hand and what you're most comfortable with. I like my lachesis but my deathadder is way better for fps. Mx518 is also amazing (and optical).

How is low sensitivity the only way to play an fps? It just takes more time to get to the same place.

Well some guns are better with lower sensitivity (snipers), but I wanna see anyone UT3 (or any other twitch shooter.. man, Quake 3 Arena <3 <3 <3) it up with low DPI.

Moving with your arm just lets you have more fine-tuned muscle memory. Moving with your wrist (a la high sensitivity) just means you're not as accurate. We used to laugh at the scrubs that would go out and buy 4000 dpi mice because of all the hype around them and were still terrible.

ended up springing for the deathadder. Will let you guys know how it comes out.

I hate Razer products. They all feel so cheap. I hope you like it, I know I wouldn't.

true...when I first got my diamandback I thought the same thing. I thought it felt light and kinda cheap. But after using for a while I couldn't go to any other mouse. I tried logitechs, I couldn't get over how big they were, I've tried microsoft and I hate the smooth scrolling. razer gave me the best compromise.

well, it just came in today. The build quality seems a bit better than my old diamondback, I still need to get used to the feel coming from the microsoft 5000 and the last mouse I used (a logitech mx-700). I haven't played any FPS's yet but I will see how it performs onRed alert 3, I may try crysis soon.

i have the lachesis.. friggin love it.. took me about a week to get use to the shape because its unconventional.. but after using it for 5 months now i cant stand using my microcrap intelli mouse for my second system.. also the customizable quick change DPI settings are nice.. and you can connect it to any system without the drivers and it will retain the profile settings on the mouse its self..
