Another “Laptop Hunter” Ad From Microsoft

I want to know where that BB is located, mine usually has alot more people in the store, that one looks quite empty except where they planted a few people. LOL

That one is located off the 405 in Costa Mesa California by South Coast Plaza. Its a hole-in-the-wall mall, and that store was never busy when I went in it.

Also, some footage was shot at Fry's Electronics down the street. They REALLY like these two locations.

And before any of you anti Apple tards respond, I know what would be better than Apple staying around and lending some competition to the marketplace!

oh wow...what the fuck did I just read.

First, how much did these "five given apps" cost?! They sure weren't free. And I'd have to know what they are to know if there are professionally written alternatives, and their usually are. Again, you'd know that in you're obvious infinite arrogance. You seriously get more annoying by the minute...and make yourself look dumber by the minute, too. Ever year of virtualization, by the way?

ADP. Razor's Edge. Topaz. Granite. USL.

Have I named enough yet? Retard troll is retard troll.

Am I the only one who was surprised to see them get a Sony and not HP? I'm not saying it's bad or good either way, but after seeing HPs bought in the first ads I though all of them were going to purchase HPs.

hPOD - There are several posters around here that make consistently well written posts with well balanced viewpoits (nilepez, SirKronan).

TechieSooner isn't one of them. Search around these forums and its pretty obvious that he is the biggest MS fanboy out there, period. His logic and debating skills are about what you'd expect from an DeVry graduate, and when it comes to biased opinions he's just as bad as the Mac zealots out there.

Before you get all wound up and waste your time arguing in circles for ten forum pages (because he WILL do it), just remind yourself that he's a total nobody, an IT guy for a small business in who-cares-where, Oklahoma.

Same here, after the first two I thought HP was helping to foot the bill. The ads were doing more work selling cheap HP hardware than they were MS operating systems.

They're very close to Los Angeles, just barely out of the 30 mile zone. I suppose they could have used the Fry's in Burbank but that thing is just way too noticable with the giant crashed UFO prop at the front entrance. The Costa Mesa Fry's would be way more anonymous even though the place is a dump (well, ALL Fry's are dumps :) ).

The Vegas Fry's ain't a dump, it's actually pretty sharp compared to the other locations I've been to which look more like Costco/Sam's Club than a consumer electronics superstore. The Vegas location stands out, perhaps, but it's nothing like any of the other ones that I had a chance to shop in over the past few years (Phoenix, L.A., San Jose, etc).

Besides, it has a slot machine over the front door... "You spends your money, you takes your chances..." :D

I love these ads. For the first time in a long time, Microsoft finally has some ads that are poignant and meaningful. For too long the ads have been so abstract, it's nice to see something that nails a message: you get more for your money with a PC vs. a Mac, and they do it without having to openly bash Apple, nor rely on stereotypes that are based on 1990's hardware capability (remember the Apple ad where the PC was presenting grayscale pie charts?).

Can't be said enough, BLLLLLLUUURRRAAAAAAYYYYYY.........

Showed this to my computer illiterate grandma, and she simply said, wouldn't it be cheaper to go with one that just did DVD's & spend the saved money on a better video card if the kid likes to game?

I almost fainted...

Anyway, I'm 32, and I'm a PC. :)

But I don't hate Apple at all. Just the overpriced hardware, the OS is rather slick, to bad I'm a huge PC gamer. ^_^

Or not having to drive far between commericals is probably a better reason.

But well done Microsoft, you're commercials are actually entertaining.

macintosh sucks, i have to say this, even i own a macbook myself.

as a programmer, i find mac useless. It took those retards years to release the so called "fix" to support java 6 in their crappy OS.
Poor osx still running java 1.5
It is only good as a netbook, nothing more nothing less.

Some of the anti Apple weirdness around [H]ere is a bit baffling. Why do any of you care?!

Apple is like the popular kids at school and all the nerds are pissed off because they're still not invited to the party.

Meh. Seems like the ads are getting worse IMO. Just a bunch f random laptop shots with some people way too excited to be on TV. Their first ad with Lauren was way better.

MS can do better IMO.

They could just buy Apple. That would quell a lot of the crap... of course the SEC and every person on the planet would complain but... it's entirely within the realm of possibility. :)

Hell, Bill Gates could buy Apple with a conference call with a few friends like Warren Buffet and several others... my what a maelstrom that would turn out to be.

I don't know if I'd say they're getting worse but they are leaving out stuff that they should have in there.

The Lauren ad had a specific price and size of laptop she was looking for. They need to keep that type of thing in the ad.

The second ad was way to vague but it sure got the iCult upset which was fun to see. This new ad is closer to the Lauren ad but isn't quite there.

I think MS did make two great points in this ad though: gaming and Blu-Ray. They should add cost and size to that and really stick it to Apple.

Yea, I don't think the gaming really hit home though. Should've been more like
Kid: "Mom I wanna play this awesome game called Crysis!"
Mom: "OK, dear, let's find one that can do that"
Kid: "Cool! A Mac! Looks slick."
Mom: "Wow that's much more money. Does this play Crysis?"
Chick: "No, it doesn't."
Kid: "I also want a BlueRay player, I heard those are so cool, does it at least do that?"
Chick: "Sorry it doesn't do that either."

....

That said though, while that would've hit home more efficiently, they'd be stooping to Apple's level by just slamming the competition versus showing the highs of their own market.

I'm glad MS is finally firing back at Apples years of condescending ads.
Pwned

I want to know where that BB is located, mine usually has alot more people in the store, that one looks quite empty except where they planted a few people. LOL

So are these actors, or just people they give a free laptop instead of paying actors?

Now that I view this view 2 times, The BB is located in Costa Mesa, CA. 5 minutes away from a community college I go to. LOL all these best buys are all near me:p

the "this will be great for games" is so off its not even funny.

thats the laptop, its the only sony that 16.4" that best buy carries, and it has an intel 4500hd. wtf, how is that EVER gonna be good for gaming. best buy also has the gateway p-7805-u http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9172511&type=product&id=1218043606827 and an asus g50vt http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9173262&type=product&id=1218044029168, which are both WAY better than the sony, and the asus is the same price, gateway a bit more but still worth its value. honestly, they got won over by the blu-ray... :/

Yeah. I just want them to say "I can only spend up to X amount of dollars." Then have them get a PC that can do some gaming, BluRay, and everything else for that price or less. That would really hit home.

PS: My definition of gaming consists of far more then WoW.

That and "bluuuuu-rayyyyyy" was probably intentional. Sony is of course a premium brand, so the unhinged loonies are less likely to whine that the comparison is unfair (who am I kidding, they always whine).

One site thinks the Sony model from the commercial was this one, really not a bad deal overall for a Sony:

$1,129 VAIO VGN-FW355 config: 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (800MHz front-side bus), 16.4-inch LCD display with 1,600-by-900 resolution, 4GB of DDR2 memory (expandable to 8GB), 512MB (dedicated) ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 graphics, 320GB SATA hard drive (7,200 rpm), DVD burner with Blu-ray playback, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, three USB ports, HDMI port and Windows Vista 64-bit with Service Pack 1.

I judge how effective the ads are by how much they make mac zealots cry. There should be a full force mobilization of tears by tomorrow. :p

Lol it has begun :D. Another great thread in the making.

BLLLLLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-RRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAY.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-RRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mac advertising still works... or at least word of mouth does.

My roommate just spent $2500 on a MacBookPro. He pretty much does email, web and about once a year, some special Valentine's day photoshop for the ladies. I tried to tell him that he could save... oh... $1500... and still get a 17" DVD playing laptop but he said he didn't want to bring it home and have it crash or have all kinds of crappy software on it.

Anyway, on the same day, I had two Dell Optiplex GX620s delivered that I bought for $250 shipped (total... for both...) from eBay. P4 3.2HT 1GB 80GB. Complete boxes (no peripherals or software). Even support low profile PCI Express cards.

Anyway, I have a wireless network... things that can connect to it include... Wii, PS3, PSP, iPhone, various USB wireless adapters, a PCI Express wireless adapter, my Dell, various other PC laptops. The one thing that can't connect to it? A brand new $2500 MacBook Pro.

I'm not anti-Mac. I'm certainly not against other people spending their money on it. But for my money, I can get so, so much more with some simple PC hardware and software.

Bah, for $1500 anyone on the forum could have built a totally excellent Core i7-powered desktop. Come on little kid from the commercial, that's not very [H]ard!

Mac's have never really catered the gamers, or even attempted for that matter

I liked the add, its good for the amount of time they have the add running for

Apple is like the popular kids at school and all the nerds are pissed off because they're still not invited to the party.

Hey now. Apple and PC nerds are equally not invited to parties lol. It's just funnier when a jock with an Apple is trying to sound like a nerd - I've seen it, and it's the saddest thing to see.

That, and most of us are sick and tired of douchebag jackasses with more money than sense walking up anytime a computer has issues and getting the "My Mac at home never does that" bullshit.

Hahaaaa this reminds me of a couple of weeks ago. Me and some mates met up for lunch. One of them who always has to have the latest gadgets turned up with his new Macbook to show off with. He then started to show us a blogging app that he said was so cool. It then proceeded to crash 5 times in a row. Just wouldnt work.

It got put back in its bag in a flash and the topic was changed whilst we sat around smirking into our beer.
