I am about to build a new rig and am finally going to join the multi-core processor and pci-x crowd! See sig, lol. Anyway, I already have an Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU and I am curious if it will be enough. It's brand new and for sale in my F/S thread, but I will keep it if it will get the job done. I want to get an AMD quad core, a single vid card, like an 8800GTX or better, and I will only have one HDD - a Raptor which I already have. I know these specs are pretty generalized, but since I will not be overclocking anything and I will only have one of certain things (no SLi nor multiple HDDs), will a 500W PSU be enough?
 
500 seems sufficient. I don't see your system taking more than 500 Watts with minimal things in it.
 
You might have some problems if you plan on running an 8800gtx or up, such as the 9800gx2.
 
Check out the rig in my sig. With the processor under full load for all 4 cores I pull about 255-265 watts total. That does not include the 8800GT at full load. It's just idling at the desktop right now.

I highly doubt you will have a problem with that Antec Earthwatts PSU. It's a quality PSU, not some POS cheap thing.
