I want to build a new gaming PC, my old one is getting a little long in the teeth, I want to start from scratch as I am thinking about moving my current PC and using it as a media server.

1. Primary use will be Gaming, no photoshop, transcoding ect ect
2.Budget under 1k with everything
3.Live in Cali
4. I need everything, MOBO, CPU, RAM, PSU, Case, Disc Drive, HDD and OS
5. Not reusing any parts
6. I want to OC the CPU so I will be getting a beefier cooler but nothing too crazy.
7. I will be using my new Samsung 24" 1080p monitor, no crazy resolutions or multi monitor gaming and no 3D
8. I plan on starting the build between now and the next 30days, looking for good deals so I dont need everything at once
9. USb 3.0 and the usual MOBO features
10. Need a new OS 64 bit

With all that said, im a 1080p gamer and my current rig is just not cutting it. I have an old 4890 Toxic edition GPU, it has served me well but its time for a new card. My old dual core Intel has lost the will to do anything more than surf the web. I do not have preferences anymore so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up the i5 and MOBO already as the deals were really good, gonna hold off on some of the other components to see what other prices are around but this is a great start.

Good luck with the build. Though a few notes:
- The $230 price tag for that HD 6950 2GB is pretty low as is. With that said, if you can order from Newegg before the 28th, you can get the HD 6950 2GB for $218 shipped with tax:

- If the HD 6950 2GB exceeds $230, ditch it and go for the HD 7850 2GB if it's available from Amazon.com
 
I was actually just looking into the 7850, it seems to be the bargain burner of this gen. The low power consumption (less heat) make it even more intriguing because this 4890 gets FREAKING hot. I would love to be able to cool down my PC room a bit.
 
Yeah it's a solid choice now that its price has dropped a little.
