Added an AMD Duron 1.0Ghz for the cause. Only downside is that thing gets hot as an oven. :p

Than bake some cookies in it and have one. Even a hot box helps the cause. :) :p

I'm thinking about making an hour trip to a friend's house and see about getting my old A7V133, 256meg o' RAM and Radeon 32 meg DDR back from him. I've got enough parts here for another machine. Actually, I have a PII 266 I pieced together from spare parts sitting here I am planning on using as an old games box once I get another monitor and keyboard. I could just get the old motherboard and toss in an old Duron 950 I have sitting around. Or I guess I could grab one of the 1.2 ghz T-birds another friend of mine has laying around. It would be a nice little addition although the T-bird runs a bit hot.

I don't know if money's tight for you or not, but you'd be much better off if you could get ahold of any speed AthlonXP rather than the Athlons and Durons you have. Those old Durons and Athlons ran super hot and don't do well on Gromacs WU's, so if you can find an AthlonXP cheap somewhere, I'd suggest grabbing it.

I could probably round up an Athlon XP somewhere's, but the problem is that costs money. Also, my board will only support up to an Athlon 2000+ without flashing a new BIOS that tends to make the system crash.

Anyway, the point is, I already had the equipment, so I thought I'd put it to good use. Funny part is it's in a mega-huge Antec 1030SX case, but all it has in it is the MOBO, NIC, video, and a laptop hard drive.

I've done some asking around and haven't been able to find an AthlonXP for free or cheap. Otherwise I'd be running one instead of the T-Bird in the "family" computer. I can get hold of several Durons and T-Birds but no XPs. When I asked a friend about what hardware he had laying around he started going through it and found a couple of Durons and a few T-Birds he didn't even know he had. He also came up with a Radeon 32 meg DDR card that he didn't know he had. I managed to snag it to put in the "family" computer and take the Voodoo3 PCI out of it for my DOS gaming box.

Hey! There's some great old games that don't work with Windows. Xcom comes to mind...wish I still had that one. Never could get it to work on even a Windows 95 machine...DOS 3.11 rules. :)

do you need fans or a better HS ?

It's got a ThermalTake Volcano 9, but I have the fan speed turned as low as it will go (1300RPM) for acoustic consideration.
