Last night I ran out of space on my 120 gig hard drive. So I go to delete some stuff I don't need. I delete 8 movies (about 700 megs each), and check how much free space I have now.

36KB!!!!!!@2132!@$@!#%^1 WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!
Do 8 full length movies only take up 36KB of space?!?!?!

I hate windows more than ever now....

I never have these problems with linux.

EDIT: Anyone know what to do? Besides reformat and start using only Linux?

Wow, that did it. I thought I pressed shift+delete like I always do. Is there a way to get rid of the recycling bin and just actually delete what I tell it to (like 'mv * /dev/null' or 'rm -rf *' in linux)?

Shift delete :p

Or try tweakUI from Microsoft (search their site: Windows Powertoys)

u could right click and click delete from the drop down menu i heard somewhere that it deletes the file without going through the recycling bin but i may be wrong

To disable keeping files in the Recycling Bin, right-click on the Recycling Bin > Properties. You need to check a box that says "Do not move files to Recycling Bin".

I would have answered his question, if he had one at the time of the post (which he didnt, he was only bitching). pwnt.

Right-Click <Recycle Bin>//Click <<Properties>>//Under the tab (<<Global>>) set the space it reserves to "0%" (this'll get you even more free space)

Now, whenever you delete stuff, it'll just be deleted!

Yep....

I never used the damn recycle bin. If I'm deleting something then I don't want it asking 50 times if I am sure I want to delete it and then all it does is move it to a different directory. If I wanted to move it to a different directory then I could do that myself. Only thing I ever did was shift+delete. Now rm -rf is my friend. Hasn't bitten me yet but it probably will some day. :D
