Guys, I am looking to upgrade my current laptop on the shelf to a true HTPC, but I need case recommendations. I dont want it to be obnoxious and stand out, which is why I want it to appear to be an audio receiver or at least fit in. My current issue seems to be the depth. The shelf I want to put it on is only 12 inches deep. I don't mind a bit of overhang as my current receiver does a little as well. Price shouldn't matter, as long as it fits my requirements.

Thanks!

What kind of hardware you using? There are plenty of flat desktop cases that look a bit like game consoles, but most of them require an ITX motherboard and either a PCI-E riser card or low profile expansion cards.

Silverstone makes a whole line of cases that look kind of like audio receivers, though. I'm not sure they're quite as small as you're after, but that's where I'd look if I really did want it to look like a stereo receiver.

Cheat:

Buy a DVD Player and gut it. Set up the laptop so that it doesn't turn off / sleep when you close the lid. Insert Laptop, close DVD player case up ;-)
