AMD hasn’t forgotten about ATI Mobility users. AMD is committing to monthly ATI Catalyst releases under Windows 7 and Windows Vista for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2000 series, Radeon HD 3000 series and Radeon HD 4000 series as well as future products.
This is GREAT news.

If OEM's support it.

I wonder if support of it will affect people's purchases in the future.

This is where they have changed things, OEMs don't have to opt in anymore. The default option is that AMD drivers will work on these notebooks by default. If the OEM doesn't like this, they can opt out. So, no more having to have OEMs opt in to the program, it is all opt in, unless they don't want it.

10.1 started causing it to overheat, get green dots everywhere and turn games purple. the pc as a whole started to crawl

10.1 hotfix, resolved performance/glitch issues

hopefully 10.2/3 do not bring the 10.1 issues back.

That is a known issue? Good, I thought it might be my monitor that was having trouble. Is there any known workaround? I think it only started happening for me recently, possibly when I updated my Catalyst drivers. I suppose that would make sense...
Sure wish I knew. It is a major issue for me. And it pisses me off..

Still waiting to see how to resolve this

Have you tried disabling "Put Monitor In Sleep Mode after XXX minutes" under windows, and tried using your finger to hit the small button marked "Power" on your monitor?

I hear it's a 100% successful fix. Also, save even more power then sleep mode does.

(/smartass) Please don't take that as a personal attack jordan12, I've just seen so many people complaining about it, and have never understood why people just don't turn off the monitor when they are not using the PC. Is there some advantage I am not aware of, to putting your monitor to sleep instead of off? I mean I know the advantages to sleep mode over power off for a PC, but it's not like monitor have a boot up time. (And, if they do, it's like what, 3 seconds max?)

Am I reading the release notes correctly????

Wording is so confusing

""Support for ATI CrossFireX™ on Eyefinity configurations
The ATI Catalyst™ 9.12 hotfix release provides ATI CrossFireX™ support on Eyefinity
configurations, allowing users to take advantage of their additional GPUs for increased
gaming performance when driving high resolution Eyefinity display groups.
Supported on the ATI Radeon™ HD 5970 Series, ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 Series, ATI
Radeon™ HD 5700 Series, and ATI Radeon™ HD 5600 Series."" - release notes 10.2

is that saying you still have to run 9.12HF (on now) in order to run XF&EF?

because I know 10.1 broke XF&EF but I thought 10.2 was supposed to fix the problem that they fixed in 9.12HF:confused:

So, the bezel management works great, but where's the super thin bezel/multi monitor setups that were supposed to be around the corner? Wasn't Samsung or someone working on a 3x1 setup?

It probably works. Remember last time they managed to release 10.1 with the entire driver still being identified as 9.12 on accident, so it seems like a lot of these little details slip by.

Any news or at least indication that there is possibility of better hybrid crossfire support on IGPs.
Am thinking of the possibilities, if the HD4200, forthcoming HD4290 and Fusion IGPs could have more options as to what they can be paired with.
Not expecting the world, but a bit more options like pairing my 785G IGP (HD4200) with something better than a HD3470.
Before anyone says it I know it is not a n ideal thing to crossfire such IGPs, but I like the idea of having a small simple, lower power GPU running 90% of the time and then having a secondary modestly powerful discrete GPU kick in when i occasionally play games the rest of the 10% of time.
And with the on board IGP clocked up, a free say even a modest 10% - %20 boost to the discrete GPU is surely not a bad thing?

I was just looking at some of the pictures and it's nice to see ATI implement some type of bezel management, I just think they could have used a more elegant solution like Maxtor's triple head 2 go. One instance I could see it as a disadvantage is because mouse can hide behind bezel, item's behind bezel are no longer visible until you move your character ect, imagine playing Modern Warfare 2 online or any other FPS, ppl that get behind the bezel or if someone is hiding on the bushes and the bushes are simply behind the bezel then it turns the bezels into blind spots.
All they needed to do was shift the pixels vertically and re-size side images so that all 3 images fit in nicely together.
These are good examples of maxtors solution.
http://www.matrox.com/graphics/surroundgaming/en/product/bezel/

http://www.matrox.com/graphics/surr...trox_Monitor_Bezel_Management_White_Paper.pdf

I like their solution a little better when it comes to bezel management and they been doing multi-screen solutions since 2001.

I could be wrong since I actually have to see how it plays out on final release, but that's what I could analyze from the pictures and the articles.
Think before you type. ATI's solution is exactly the same as Matrox. Look at their demo, they remove stuff as well. In fact ATI's is even better as there will not be any black bars at the ends.

I personally do not like turning the power button on and off so much. I use the machine. My wife will use it sometimes as well. So it would be pushed on and off a lot. And I have had previous monitors develop shorts in the power button due to this. With this feature, I avoid that problem. So yeah, it is a nice feature to have.

Thats why I prefer to use that feature over the power button. (And no insult or attack taken)

Have anyone gained any super increase in FPS with the new drivers in CrossFire? There are some anxious people here who wanna hear if they should invest or wait :D

So if you don't have eyefinity or crossfire these drivers seem pointless to me.

What I miss the most coming from a long range of NVidia cards to my Ati card is game profiles where I can set the AA and AF settings for a game executable, and not have to change my video card settings before I launch a game every time.

Has anyone else tried them and can confirm crossfire and eyefinity are working?

Yep, I think its something to do with one of the visual C++ redists or something, originally the cats would just completely fail to install then I got some help on the [H]forum, someone recommended a specific release of the 2005 redist i think, anyway tried that and the installer isn't failing anymore but obviously crossfire doesn't get set up correctly either.

It's a fustercluck...

Anyway I have them working now and I have to reinstall all my VS stuff now...ugh but MSI's Afterburner is no longer reporting fan speed correctly or letting me change the voltage, anyone else get this?

if soft TH can do it :p why can't eyefinity?
exactly! I do not understand how this is being overlooked. I have been searching for an answer for the future and cannot find anything solid from ATI. A plp setup in my opinion makes the most sense. For now I guess I have to hope for crossfire support in soft th.

The 10.2 drivers are working awesome for me. Well at least in AvP. That's the only game I've got installed on my machine right now.

With a single card i agree, but as soon as i enable cf things start to change (am also using eyefinity) - visual artifacts in new games, slower performance in those games as well.

Crossfire seems to be fine as long as I am not running Eyefinity as well. As soon as I turn on my second and third 3008wfps the frame rate goes to crap. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm only running the one 5970. It was the only one they had at Microcenter, but I did think about getting two of them. I'll pick up another one soon if the CrossFireX issues are mostly ironed out. I got burned badly by the shitty CrossFireX support for the 4870 X2. Never again.

Same here. Though as I understand it AMD gave a ton of attention to the 5970 and the drivers to ensure that it wasn't a repeat of the bullshit those of us who bought the 4870 X2 early had to deal with. So far so good. AVP is a brand new game and its worked well so far. In the past you'd have to wait a month to get Crossfire working with a new game.

During the driver install my screen went blank and I got the no signal warning. Figured no problem, the pic will come right back...

It didn't come back. AT ALL. I waited about 5 minutes and still no pic, but pandora was still playing.

Had to hold the power switch to shut down. Rebooted and still no video.. I have rebooted a few times now and STILL no video even for the initial post!

Did the new driver fry my card? Did it swap the DVI output my card uses? (Edit: it didn't swap outputs. I tested the other one.)
