Just in case you never leave the DC Forum, there are discussions in other places about the AMD / Microsoft Tech Tour 2006. Locations have been announced, and prices as well for the desktop and server bundles.

Before you get excited at all, the general consensus is that the bundle pricing and the bundle products really suck this year. More expensive and not such good products.

Bundle quality aside, those Tech Tour events are usually a lot of fun and quite informative. AMD puts on a bit of a show, free stuff is given out, and dinner is provided free. I really enjoy the chance to talk to some AMD engineers and marketing people. You can often find out info that is not public knowledge yet if that intrests you. The thing is designed for system builders (I do fit that profile, just very small time), but general techies can definetly enjoy it.

I plan on going to the Toronto event on May 18th, shout out if you plan on attending one of them, and if multiple people will be at any of them we can plan to meet up and say hi. At my first one (4ish years ago I think), people drew a [H] on their nametags so we could find each other and we took some group photos.

I may sign up for the TO event. I don't have high hopes, a keychain and free food I'll be happy. (of course I don't mind more) :p

I stuck my nose in the PPU forum and was brokebacked by anti-folders. I'm gonna stay here where it's safe :p

As usual, leave up to AMD to lay out temptation in a workstation package. Damn them and their bundles!!!
 
any second thoughts about buying one of these bundles for folding?

I was thinking of ordering one and then not showing up. I think there is a fair chance they will mail it, but that is just my guess. I still think that the level of interest this year will be low.
