AMD Radeon CrossFire updated compatibility chart

Thanks for this. All this time I thought 290X would be compatible with 290 (like 7970 with 7950). Was thinking of buying one for 290X CF + 290, so saved me $300 rite derr

Hello Xinmosni,

The 290X is compatible with the 290, works just fine - we just haven't officially tested this configuration.

This chart would be more useful if it showed working, but not officially supported configurations. Maybe in a different color. Otherwise you might as just well say it works if the card models are the same and you don't need a chart.

It would be much more useful to post an updated chart or page showing the types of connections and adapters certified for connection to monitors, which GPUs will power which monitor types, ie 4K, and which display connectors that will allow proper EyeFinity function.

Some of your stuff is YEARS old in that regard.

You haven't put a 290X and a 290 in the same system, ever? and you build this stuff.

Warsam,

kind of off topic, but is AMD working on a 3x and 4x CF profile for Allbenchmark Catzilla ver. 1.2?

I thought I was the only one a bit confused by the chart... I don't personally own any AMD gear, but I have built some AMD systems, so I was interested to see what works with what.

Hello everyone,

The former chart had the older Radeon models listed whereas this version reflects the new R series GPUs. I'll make sure inform you of any other updates moving forward, and thank you for your feedback everyone.

"Officially" they haven't tested every system config, with every game, with every setting.

I didn't say that, at all.

I'm just saying that I find it odd that AMD hasn't put a 290X and a 290 in the same computer together.....not every motherboard or every game, I'm sure they haven't even done that on their "officially certified" combos.

You basically did when you started arguing after Warsam stated it hasn't "officially" been tested.

They do substantial testing before making anything "official."

..........and you know this how?

in my viewpoint, AMD needs to do substantial updating.

I don't really know why this is such a big concern. The 290X and 290 use the same GPU and have the same components, it's probably just not worth the time/effort to test them since they would obviously be compatible.

In other words, they made a nice diagram of things people on this board already knew and tested themselves for the past year. :D
