AMD Or Intel, Which To Go With?

Usually I have no problem whatsoever when it comes to selecting parts for my new PCs; however with the introduction of dual core processors into the market that in itself has made my decision much more difficult. I am not biased toward Intel or AMD (I build both Intel and AMD rigs). I am currently deciding between four processors. These four processors include the following:

AMD (Single Core): FX-57
AMD (Dual Core): 4800+
Intel (Single Core): P4 670 (3.8GHz)
Intel (Dual Core): 840 EE

I realize that these processors are expensive; but I want the best of the best right now. I plan on doing a lot of encoding with this system so keep that in mind when you voice your opinion. I may game a little too; however this system will be mainly used for audio/video encoding.
 
For best all around performance get the x2. For best raw gaming power get the fx57, although the difference is minimal at higher resolutions. For the best way to heat your room get the intels.
