wow thread went downhill fast. so such thing as microstutter with a single card. If you got stuttering you got hardware config problems and need to check into that.....

And how the fuck would you even know? We're talking first hand experience here and your main rig rocks a fucking 4870... Clearly you're just going off others options here so don't come in blaming others for the issues when you clearly don't know wtf you're even talking about. Fucking amd fanboys...

You could always Google the issue and find there are literally thousands having the same issues our you can pretend to know because you read it from a fanboys post that it don't exist.

Because I'm not an idiot who swallowes everything that some Internet moron states?

Faulty or misconfigured hardware will definately cause stuttering and so does overclocking beyond a certain point. Everyone knows that you can have an overclock with no appearant side effects on your video card (you cannot detect artifacts) but the GPU is struggeling with memory faults that it is trying to deal with errant data...

How about hard drive controllers having data integrity issues? or how about certain drivers trying to max out the buffer (SB Live ring a bell?) Lets not forget resourse allocation within windows.........

so come back when you learn how to have a converstation without cussing everyone out.......

PC tech for 20+ years......lol so I have a clue as to what I am talking about....

EDIT: Bolded parts

but how you can blame hardware, and saying you know its hardware when you never even used the product, or have any experience with them.

And yes this is someone with only 17+ years of pc experience.

Well everyone should agree that Overrall for the same price u get much more hardware for the money with the 7950 than with 660 ti. If u say something else PROVE IT

And dont come tell anyone experience from IT gives any advantage in knowing what works best for gaming

Totally true. Plus you get Crysis 3 and bioshock for free as well.

Depends on the games, as many users and benchmarks have already proven. AMD 7950 typically provides a little lower price point plus the current promotion with the included games makes it an easy choice. nVidia provided a very similar performing product with a few added features such as PhysX and Adaptive Vsync which does add value to that choice, but only if those features are sought out and to be used.

Actually it is an issue with single cards too. I should know. I just started playing Skyrim again to play some dragonborn, with the new cat 13.2b7 (and I tried 13.2b6). I get massive stutter inside places when there is a shitload of lights for some reason. And this is using a 120hz monitor. It is so obvious. I have tried to cap the FPS at 119 and 120fps, and it dont do squat.

I also notice a bit of stuttering in BF3, and also Hitman.

AMD has better performance, but it isnt smooth.

Nvidia has less performance, but its alot smoother...

So it depends on what you are willing to deal with.

Well i agree with that somewhat.but try down clocking your memory a bit. sometimes memory(on graphic cards especially) doesn't like to be overclocked to much

The 7950 clearly owns the 660ti. Who cares that the 660ti beats it in one game that just came out? It hasn't been optimized. If those two fall in your price range, there's no reason to not get a 7950 unless you want to only play crisis 3.

an un-optimized game that is part of the amd development partnership, but runs better on nvidia hardware. isn't that a bit ridiculous?

So which nvidia fanboy wants to trade me their 660ti for my 7950 that overclocks like a beast? Ha just kidding

Everyone knows that a 7950 overlclocked is easily a better choice than a 660ti or a 670. You can overclock them and get to 7970 clocks, with default voltage. There really is no comparison here.

i just need my cf'd 7850s to be able to run crysis 3 at 25x16 without reducing any settings to high, and i'll be a happy camper. it really stupid that amd hardware is so notably behind nvidia in this game.

OP self owned him self so hard in this thread, we need a hall of shame sticky, where this thread belongs.

OP, I was really starting to think that graphics card reviews around the web weren't all that informative. Glad you could clear everything up for me. I applaud you, Mr. Troll.

I am not blaming anything but if your system is stuttering with a single card, IT NOT MICROSTUTTER..

hello? common sense?

Seriously man? I guess you dont read my posts well.

I said it was stuttering alot...I never once mentioned MICROSTUTTER

Learn to read before making yourself look stupid.

So now you are trying to qualify what the stuttering is called? Its microstutter, whether or not its the same or even related to the crossfire micro stutter is another discussion. But to put it plainly since after 20 years of experience you cant grasp simple concepts when a game has many small stutters it is micro stuttering...

Im not even going to bother posting the dozens of forum threads all over the web pointing to these issues with single cards in certain games because you are just going to convince yourself you know better.

No first hand experience, ignores the plentiful evidence contradicting what he says, claims its a hardware config issue when even the most novice of us knows its software and driver issues and with all his claims backs it up with "20 years experience".

That shit may impress your friends or make community college kids think you are right but around here its simply not impressive.

Personal experience here, but I had insane microstuttering in Far cry 3 with my MSI 670 Power edition. I have no issues with my 7970. Both camps, with there boost tech, suffer from stuttering in games -- it is the lottery of whether it happens to you. I loved my 670, but it wasn't anywhere near as smooth as my 7970, especially with my overclock -- in fact it's not close.
