AMD Firefox Users

If it makes you feel any better I get the same. Those flames rip up the full cabability of my 3500 venice by using 88-96% cpu usage :D if I scroll down a few lines it goes to 5% cpu. No issue what so ever with IE. So what we've learned here is that Firefox is poorly optimized for graphics and 2D like flash. I'm using it over IE6 at the moment but won't hesitate for a second to switch to IE7 because of annoying little issues such as this.
 
No problem here. Firefox 1.0.6, A64 3000+ s754, 2gb pc3200, msi k8n neo3-f, bfg 7800gt + forceware 78.01.
 
Lmao, it kills the CPU usage here, too. It doesn't lag the computer, it just seems to enjoy using CPU cycles.
 
Well, I don't have an AMD CPU, I have an Intel P4 Prescott, but it pegs my CPU at 100%. Interesting.

This has more to do with nVidia cards than AMD processors, here's the fix:

1. Open Display Properties.
2. "Settings" tab.
3. "Advnaced" button.
4. "Troubleshoot" tab.
5. Set the "Hardware Acceleration" slider one notch down from full, and apply.

That's a crap fix. That setting might cause other issues.

Mind pointing out what issues this might cause? I haven’t seen any from using it and I've had it set that way for over 3 months.
 
No issues here. Firefox peaked at something like 4% CPU usage with that site opened. Specs in sig.
 
It spanks my Dell work machine with an Intel P4 (of course) using FireFox. I think a little back end optimization could help firefox with issues like this. Kind of like butt implants for old chicks.
 
No problems here. I'm always at 100% CPU Usage though, since I run F@H as a service in the background. But yeah... Firefox goes to 4% and quickly drops to 0%.
 
Im using mozilla. It broke my computers balls loading that page.

Spiked up to 67%, then went down to 38% untill the stupid image at the top loaded.
 
No problems with my Intel Pentium M laptop with Mozilla 1.0.5. I will try w/ my Venice 3200+ and Firefox 1.0.6 sometime over the weekend.
 
A64 3000+@2.6 GHz using Firefox 1.06 and it spiked my CPU between 80-90%.
 
Pegged My work P4 1.5 with 640Mb of memory and a first gen Radeon until the flames where no longer seen. This didn't actually affect anything but 100% of my CPU usage wen to Firefox.

Edit: just tried IE6, Doesn't peg it as hard sits at about 65-70% when it is visible, but in actually usage it felt laggy scrolling wasn't fluid and didn't close as quickly as normal while the flames where up.

I am Using Win2k SP4.
 
Tried Fire Fox, several versions, including all the fixes that were never supposed to be necessary. When they fix it right I might switch.

Until then with thousands of hours on IE and not ONE PROBLEM on every machine in my house running 24/7 I’ll stick with IE.
 
hahaha i get 94% usage, thats weird. probably just a bug in firefox with acceleration. its not the video card, because that acceleration is through windows. id send a message to firefox about it, im sure they can fix it.

oh and im definitely not goin back to IE. who on earth would design an internet browser that is directly tied into system files and the OS? the whole program is a security flaw no matter how you look at it imo.

Thats Funny Becaus eI have this Problem on both. While IE says its only using about 75% vs. the 100% I get on FireFox, Ie is the one that actually acts sluggish with that on the screen.
 
Was using 1.0.6 and got 75%. Downloaded 1.5 Beta and spikes to 3%. Opera hits 66% . IE7 hit 34%.
 
Odd that it affects some ppl and not others. I got a spike to 67% then promptly dropped to 4% after loading the page (flame gif was still visisble tho). I think its probably a combiantion of video card memeory and CPU. I happen to have a 3400+ Newcastle w/ 1gb RAM and a 9600XT w/ 128MB. Maybe its a driver issue for those w/ nvidia cards?
