Hello,
I am looking for a combo deal, motherboard cpu and ram for now.
I currently have old systems Intel i7 2600k and AMD FX 860k
Both great in terms of performance and value for money.
I guess my point around this is that buying the 2600k at the time was expensive but it has really paid off i guess consideting it runs very well in todays terms.

I have decided to buy new components now.
My requirements are Casual Gaming / Mining / and just a good CPU for general computations - mining or if i want to encode a movie NOT using GPU, stuff like this.
Sometimes some software doesnt recognise or does not have GPU support.

I was looking at Intel but I have decided to give AMD a chance and hope that whatever i get will be better than the X4 860k
WHen i bought the X4 860k i was looking for a budget upgrade from the AMD socket 939 Athlon X2 4400+ which i had.
I did not know about mining and i did not know about things like L2 or L3 cache and how they really influence performance.
The X4 860k wsd really a budget build and i really liked the fact that it said it was overclockable to ridiculous speeds, but actually having it and using it , its
a useless CPU for that sort of thing.
Ive really seen no speed increase in tasks if run in overlock or non-overclock mode.

I have been looking at the 3900X and a decent motherboard (still not suire on which motherboard to get though B45 Micro or Full ATX like B450 or X570
I was thinking about money and budget now also, and trying to look at charts on the internet - im not really sure in terms of real performance and what the actuial real difference in speed is, and if it is really a miss if i do not get the 3900x, and instead go for the 3700x
But now i see people talking about the 3800x, so what i should really be getting now, i am not sure.
I was considerintg getting the 3700X instead BUT i am not sure if i am losing out on better performance from the 3900X (and of course there is also 3950x)
I am looking at the 65 Watt electrcity usage versus the 105 Watt usage...

I need some help around my choice as i am not really sure, and i really want to make the best possible decision here
I wanted to go for the 3900x but it is expensive say 27k whereas if i buy the 3700x its less 10k - i am not sure how much "real" performance
and future proof and being sorry in the future, do i lose out on.
In my currency there is a difference of 100 USD between the 3700x and the 3900x

I am also unsure if it is worth it , or if there is a general rule to always buy a good motherboard or cpu ? or both
Im between brands also, ASUS, GIGABYTE , MSI, depends what else i can get here, but it seems the 3 i mentioned are popular here.

Thanks for reading the essay.
I apprecite responses here

Well, that is a lot to unpack there... :)

I'll say this: If you are looking to get as many years out of this new build as you did your old ones, then you are almost certainly looking at (as of now, anyway) 3900x CPU on X570 chipset mainboard assuming it is comfortably within your budget to do this.

Right now, there are plenty of non-gaming apps that can make use of those 12 cores/24 threads even if nothing you are likely to do outright requires them. Things will likely only go more in that direction in the future, so a 3900x CPU is a pretty safe investment. Likewise, nothing really utilizes the PCIe 4.0 offereed by the X570, but once upon a time, people said the same thing about PCIe 3.0 and now it is ubiquitous. I wouldn't call it future proofing per se, but long term, there is nothing impractical here.

That being said, there is still plenty of love to be had pairing a 3700X with a good B450 or X470 board (heck, or even a good B350/X370 board - I myself am using a Crosshair VI Extreme with a 3900x).

As far as mainboard brand is concerned, pick whatever board has the price and features combo that you like best - there really is no one "clearly superior" brand/model at this time.

If you're not single-core limited now (you're not), then it's impossible to argue against AMD.

And if you're looking at longevity, it doesn't make sense to drop below an X570. PCIe 4.0 will likely never be useful over PCIe 3.0 within the useful life of the system, but X570 also brings more connectivity options, and that can definitely be useful.

With respect to which CPU to buy, consider that the current AMD socket is not likely to receive a CPU worth upgrading to over the 3000-series, and that it will receive at most one upgrade. If you buy now, 3900X gets my vote.

I just ordered the following no frills board that has runs cooler than most boards, has no debug LEDs (FYI) and no dual BIOS / BIOS flashback. Totally stripped down ASUS board with a damn fine VRM that is more than capable of running both the 3900x & 3950x.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SW925DR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's 135 bucks! Yes, a full X570 board that's not a piece of shit that is sub 150 bucks. It's identical, essentially, to the X570 TUF board minus a fan header, DEBUG LEDs, WiFi and not much else. The same core features that this board supports can be found in boards that are 300 dollars. It is well reviewed and covered, well tested and seemingly well liked. Hardware unboxed tested the hell out of the board and confirmed it's thermals are correct (and low).

If you are looking to not break the bank, this is a great stable platform starting point for you (I am migrating off of a Gigabyte Arous Ultra Gamaing X470 that I picked up at almost the same price, perhaps can be found for 100-120 bucks).

I am using the 3600 processor, probably the best "Gaming" processor that AMD is currently putting out because of the value and most games won't use more than this chip offers with 6 Cores / 12 Threads. For around 195 bucks, it's hard to beat: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3600-12-Thread-Processor/dp/B07STGGQ18/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1GTADVKRV0YRV&keywords=3600+amd+ryzen&qid=1571757380&s=electronics&sprefix=3600+AMD,electronics,142&sr=1-2

You will want RAM that hits either 3600 MHz or 3733 (The Maximum before the ratio goes to hell on AMD)

If you need the higher core counts, by all means, purchase the right processor they fits your use case. Just my jar of change for you, 295 Dollars (US) for Board and Processor is a phenomenal deal.

Not sure if this deal is still valid: https://hardforum.com/threads/3700x-285.1987767/#post-1044365917 (3700x for 285)

For the equivalent of 100 USD extra, I think the 3900X is worth it over the 3700X, especially since you keep your stuff for a while. At 200 USD (which is what it is in the US), there's a lot more room for debate.

Not sure exactly what Asrock has for X570, but I'll say Asrock has been killing it with their Ryzen _70 Mobos.
I personally have a x370 killer sli/ac and researched several brands, and Asrock was at the top overall for me (Cost, power delivery, reliability(BIOS), features, in order of importance to me)
The 3700X is pretty killer too But I myself would wait for the 3900 non-X or a 3950 non-X (if that will ever be a thing.)

any decent x570 board, the 3700X and call it a day. I built my system around the MSI Carbon X570 with the 3700X, I've always been a Gigabyte board fan, but it was refusing to run my Corsair 3600 with the XMP profile, or manual set spec speeds... switched over to the MSI, no issues since.

Hi guys,
Well this is just crazy:
Amazon UK: (which i have used to buy and ship to South Africa before) is selling the 3900x CPU for 500 pounds - Equivalent to 9,428.32 ZAR which is South Africa Rand:

Amazon US: is selling the 3900x CPU for 530 dollars - Equivalent to 7,777.32 ZAR:

Right now i am living i the Philippines: and Lazada which is an Online 3rd party - is selling the CPU for 8,917.82 ZAR: Equavalent to 609.563 USD which is not the best in the world.

In terms of shipping it would probably make more sesne to just buy the CPU here in the Philippines from one of the sellers, right ? I can also get this CPU from a local shop down the road in a mall for 28 000 PHP (Philippines Peso)
So this is like (https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/) 548 USD or 427 GBP.

If somebody is willing to have a look at some Combo / Bundle deals i have found - CPU and MOBO, then please let me know....as i am trying to find the best affordable or just the better deal then where i knw i have a good mother board ad CPU.
The site to use is https://www.lazada.com.ph

I am ALSO happy to go for the 3700x only because of the power consumption ....
After feedback i got here from everybody.... i see 1 person just said get the 3700 and another saying dont waste time just get the 3900, i am wanting to know how much of a miss it is or a sacrifice it is if i did take the 3700x versus the 3900x

If i look at the 3700X on Lazada then i can see the 3700x cheaper by a range of 200 to 235 USD difference

On that note if somebody could perhaps assist me on the lazaa website and determine the best combo / bundle deal with the 3700x or the 3900x i would appreciate that.
Happy to go with either i just wish i knew how to make sense of what makes better sense in terms of - well its just a difference of X so i may as just buy the better one... or NO , save the X and just buy the smaller spec CPU and Board as they will do just good enough.

Thanks everybody for the feedback.... i hope what i have posted i terms of exchange rates and pictures can help further.

My 3700x has a Eco setting and really drops the power level down if you want to and I like that with some people around the world living in hotter climates it may be useful to know if you plan using the stock cooler .
