1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? - Web, Some Gaming
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included? $500-600
3) Where do you live? Charlotte, NC
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific. - I can arrange KBAM, and Optical Drives, I need everything else.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model. - NONE
6) Will you be overclocking? NO
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have? NONE atm, 19" widescreen would be nice.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC? ASAP
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc. - No advanced features, PCI-X 2.0
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? Yes
I haven't done a build since LGA775 was in style and built my own. This is for a friend, he'd like to stay $600 or lower. He's not a big gamer, but he does enjoy to play games when he gets a chance to. Some FPS, most likely RTS and RPG's. I was thinking for his budget we should stick to a 19" widescreen so we can go cheaper on a video card.
I had my eye on this combo http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.304695but not sure about that video card since it has DDR2 and not DDR3 and how much of a difference it will really make. Now that DDR2 is dead end and LGA775 and AM2 is a dead socket as well, I'm just so confused on how to build a budget rig using AMD, since there's so many different kinds... pretty frustrating.
I'm not worried about speakers I can deal with him on that later. He would be fine with around 320GB of disk space or more I would assume. I seen a Viewsonic on Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116095 for $119.
Any advice for someone that will be playing games a little bit, but is not in any way an enthusiast?
