AMD announced the latest industry-leading application to support open-source Bullet Physics and OpenCL™ industry standards. Through its collaboration with AMD, Autodesk has incorporated a new Bullet Physics plug-in, based on OpenCL™ standards, into the Autodesk Maya 2012 software Subscription Advantage Pack.

Now game developers and 3D artists will have access to new creative workflow capabilities in Maya to help create interactive cloth simulations on a greater range of workstations and PCs, including those based on AMD FirePro™ professional graphics cards and AMD CPUs. AMD and Autodesk first publicly demonstrated the Bullet Physics plug-in technology at the Game Developers Conference earlier this year. At SIGGRAPH, there will be demonstrations running on systems powered by the latest AMD professional graphics products.

Its about time.

Seriously Right now all autodesk supports with Hardware physics is nvida workstation quatro gpus only and I am sure it is 3d studio max only because I have never seen it work in maya.

I have a ATI GPU machine and can only use it since I put my old Nvida gpu back in and have to do tweeks to force it to use that card only it's annoying as hell.

For progtrams that cost 3000$ or more that is fucking dumb oh and they complain if you use Game class gpus even though games seem to support many gpus just fine but autodesk complains and wont put in the effort to support tons of hardware.

Ohhh and it is only for maya nice so that only helps me when i do maya but when i use 3d max i get nothing.

Well, their XSI Softimage aquisition works fine with consumer Geforce GPUs (otherwise, I'd be out near the cost of the software lic, lol...)
