AMD Catalyst 12.2 Pre-Certified Driver 2/16/2012

These new drivers were terrible.
Constant BSODs for me with a single 7970.
I reverted back to the launch drivers and everything is smooth sailing again.
I am pretty upset about this but at the same time Im not having a single issue with the launch drivers.
Im just baffled as to whats taking AMD so fucking long. Atop of that they finally get something out the door for me to update too and it just fucks my shit up.
AMD...I have never had driver issues with you guys up until this GPU...
What is the deal..Where are the 7970 Offical WHQL drivers?
I mean I shouldnt complain cause its not like offical WHQL drivers will allow me to do anything I cant already do. But at the same time I paid a fair price for this card and Im wondering wtf my money went to.

Only issue I'm having with the new drivers is I cannot go beyond the stock ccc OC limits with AB any more. Other than that minor issue they are working fine. Played a few hours of BF3 last night w/o issue. How I installed:

1) Used the uninstaller with the new drivers to uninstall old drivers.
2) Uninstalled the last CAP.
3) Ran driversweeper.
4) Rebooted.
5) Installed new drivers.
6) Installed new CAP.
7) Rebooted.
8) Profit.

Sorry to hear anyone is having issues with the new drivers.

I had a weird problem with them installed. Every time I rebooted my PC after it Blue Screened this command line would run. It stated it was finalizing the Driver installation and then it auto closes. First time i thought nothing of it. I figured it was a one and done deal.
It was after the first BSOD I realized that said window opened every time my PC started.

This is precisely why you can't go past the CCC limits with AB. It seems to be a bug or possibly a missing driver file that causes AB and Trixx to think that the card is in low power clocks.

The way to get AB And Trixx working is to:
1) uninstall with atiman 6.3.1 or driversweeper, after uninstalling through the catalyst manager (will require a few reboots).
2) If you happen to get a black screen, just run the uninstaller again.
3) install the rc11 supersampling preview driver.
4) install these as an upgrade to that.

You'll have Trixx and unofficial overclocking working in AB, and you will no longer have GPU-Z showing 300/150 as the 3d clocks.

Saw that the last time we had this discussion. I posted how I installed for the benefit of the guy who keeps on getting BSOD's.

I yanked AB and Trixx off my system but still no go. The 12.2 preview drivers began installing, then everything went black. Yay for crash on install. After doing a reboot GPU-Z showed that the drivers had only installed for the first card. The second card was still showing the CD release drivers and CCC had nearly no functionality. The only "performance" option was to enable multiple monitors.

The best thing about this process was creating a manual system restore point so that I would not need to worry about crossfire failure when cleaning out and reinstalling the old drivers from the CD.

Someone said you can also try this:
(if Trixx reports 300/150 and says ULPS is enabled and Afterburner has 0 mhz on the sliders in unofficial OC mode, and GPU-Z shows 300/150 as the front page 3d clocks)

Download Atipdlxx.dll http://www.mediafire.com/?lk3pjnlz4oa74sl

copy Atipdlxx.dll to syswow64 in windows folder (for 64 bit)
system32 (for 32 bit)
(this may have to be done in safe mode)

Once GPU-Z reports 925/1325 instead of 300/150 for the 3d clocks (front page, not the sensors page), then AB and Trixx will work.

I'm guessing that these drivers are missing that file?

I believe thats the file i seen in the BSOD when i tried launching BF3 in Eyefinity everytime. Sucks that i'll have to go through all that again to find out if this fixes it.

I installed these drivers last night and everything working fine bf3 seems smoother

i installed them last night as well. i have no oc problems and bf3 running just fine. no difference between these and the hacked drivers i posted a few pages back though.

Interesting that you got these working.. I bet you didnt uninstall the prior drivers beforehand just did a straight update driver over top?

Ahh.. Coors light. I had about 5 of those myself last night out at the Casino. Wish they would carry regular Coors as i feel its mighty damn tasty.. infact the best damn beer i've had yet.

Anyways. :) Will give that a try today and report back.

Seems to me to common theme here is that if you use ATIMAN to uninstall, you end up with trouble. So hey- maybe just try installing them over-top of your previous drivers??? I only run driver sweeper when a I have issues with the "upgrade" installation over the top of my previous version, and have had VERY few issues.

I think what the issue is that the new drivers have a missing file/files thats needed for eyefinity "atleast i can tell".. thats why installing overtop of the previous drivers works.. we'll just have to try it now and see.

Drivers are working great here. Anyone have a link to a compatible HydraGrid? I haven't tried installing the old one over the top.

No problem for me, like usual. Quad-Fire 4X 7970, everything is working fine for me and all the games I'm playing right now.

Those new drivers are also working wonders in Skyrim. I had some minor color flashing, strange artifacting sometimes, and the occasionnal random stuttering, but those drivers fix all those ''problems'' for me.

6 hours of Deus EX HR, and around 6 hours of Skyrim and 2 hours of BF3 yesterday. Not a single crash, bug, artifact or any other problems. :)

I use DriverCleaner.net to uninstall my drivers. Never had a problem.

Ok.. I guess Atiman f'ed my system after all. No go with upgrade drivers. Now i gota freakin reinstall windows. Will not use Atiman again.

Never use atiman, that thing is a bad lazy fad. So many ppl have to reinstall their os because of it.

This driver sucks rc11 works awesome. I can't complain. I will wait for official

And people wonder why AMD users don't want to go to the AMD forum when you see replies like regular Gr33nGecko and there is at least 2 others like him.

What an idiot for posting in the wrong spot. I bet he is still wondering why his OCED card is still artifacting lmao

so my card still runs @ 1.024v with default clocks of 1000/1400
fine on leo and games i play but heaven
they screwed up something with heaven on this version?

Can someone explain what pre-certification is, and whether it's safe to use?

I follow this rule only with AMD drivers.."if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it." I'm running probably the oldest driver available - the ones that came on the CD with the card. No issues so far and I'm keeping it that way!

Have you fixed the problem?

the release notes said it came with hydravision but it's not there and i want to be able to create display profiles to switch between eyefinity and extended modes.

No doubt. I just discovered that cesspit.

Almost made me want to trade in my AMD card for an Nvidia.

Lovely exchange with a few regulars here concerning 12.2 precert : http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=425&threadid=158712&enterthread=y

Yep black_zion is another one.

Noticed there is only one or two people ever logged in.

Thats a problem with a Peer to Peer only forum with no AMD people on there.

Its the least helpful place to go and it will only upset you.

I was banned from there some time ago--NO idea why (Spyre wasn't the one who banned me) so I just made another account. Horrible forum....

Skyrim is not artifacting and working fine for me with those latest drivers and 4X 7970 here.

gave me weird squares behind textures in Skyrim, so I went back to 12.1

Quad 7970s and the new drivers are a totall no go for me! Cant play BF3 in eyefinity. Will just sit there and hang at a black screen on boot up and then i get a BSOD.. something with the driver failed to reset or some crap. Happends over and over on each attempt. Also tried it at 60Hz down from 120Hz just to be sure that was'nt the prob but its the same.

This is on a fresh windows 7 64 Pro install and only installed the new 12.2 pre cert drivers.

DId the same thing prior before the fresh install and thought it may of been from past crap left ver from uninstalling other drivers or from Atiman but nope.

Single screen will work but still cant use quadfire without crash just like the prior drivers.. i must change the settings in crossfire to only use 3 cards to run BF3 without issue.

IF this is going to be the first offical drivers i'll be very scared to try them haha.. IF these drivers are the same and i still cant use quad cards i may jump ship back to NVIDIA when they release there latest.
